The RAF Scampton Heritage Centre is housed inside the Annexe offices of the former 617 Sqn Hangar which is an English Heritage Grade II listed building. After a period of extensive renovation work carried out by volunteers, the Heritage Centre re-opened in June 2012. There is now the opportunity to see Wg Cdr Guy Gibsons office as it would have looked like in 1943. The Heritage Centre is open to the public by appointment only. To arrange a visit, please send an email, or use the contact us page on our website. We require a minimum of 14 days notice to complete security screening. We can accommodate groups large or small, including school trips.

We visited RAF Scampton today having booked it as a birthday surprise for my husband who is interested in aviation and history. Lesley was our guide for for around 3 hours and led a small group of us around making it most interesting with her huge wealth of knowledge about the Dambusters and also the red arrows. We saw history... More

An absolutely fabulous place. The tour was well organised, our guide was very knowledgeable & took his time to demonstrate / explain various pieces of kit. I was thrilled to discover the Red Arrows were flying on the day of my visit, it was a real treat to see them in action. The volunteers were all brilliant & made sure... More

Excellent visit care of the RAeS RAF Cranwell branch. Watched the incomparable Reds practising for the new season and a word with the Boss as well. The museum was fascinating and moving especially the restored office of Guy Gibson Dambusters Leader. The whole museum was of excellent quality and told the story of the servicemen and women who served there.... More

A guided tour by very knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers. Starting with the Royal Flying Corps in 2016 Scampton has seen progress to the Dambusting Lancasters, the Vulcans, Tornadoes and now the Red Arrows. Our tour started on the Guy Gibson room and we heard a lot about 617 Squadron. There are also items to see, and have your photo in... More

A small group of 7 people were met by guide Colin right on time and that started a fascinating 3 hours. Loads of information and settings which really brought home how the 617 dambusters squadron set about their most famous mission. Everything and everyone brought to life by Colin 's very informative commentary. History brought to life The tour was... More

Took my father to the RAF Scampton Heritage Museum as he was based there 62 years ago. Lovely day out, very welcoming museum guides who had in depth knowledge of Scampton's history. You arrive for 11am and the tour takes around 3 hours with a drinks' break in between. Our visit was made even more special with the return of... More

Our family (aged 1-60) had a marvellous tour at Scampton, with great, knowledgable guides. Weather is not an issue as this is mostly indoors with tea, coffee and biscuits readily available. My husband, quite an authority on the Dambusters, loved seeing the actual location and our grandsons enjoyed all the models and artefacts. Sitting in a Red Arrows Hawk was the... More
