This one doesn't take long to go round but great to soak up the atmosphere of the time. The local pub does excellent food too so make an afternoon of it - it's worth it

Get free English Heritage through my bank so often stop off at their sites when driving past. The castle ruins are quite imposing but the downside of this site is thats about it. Yes the history is interesting but to be honest there is not...More

We are English heritage members so got in free, otherwise it is not worth the entrance fee. Nothing to see apart from half a shell of a building and what used to be a garden. No cafe on site, only parking outside for disabled visitors,...More

We are members of English Heritage so got in free to this castle. There was an event on at the time so it was very busy, but was interesting to see the re-enactments. Parking is very limited so we were in the nearest public car...More

Large area to explore and lots of towers to ascend giving great views. Highlight, especially for the kids, is the underground tunnel.

We started the day intending to visit the Allthorp estate, unfortunately the place opened at 2pm, too long to Ang around so we searched for attractions & found Ashby castle & grounds. What a find glad we visited, lovely place & well worth a few...More
