We visited in March and had read that it was a nice walk, in parkland, to see the castle ruins. The whole experience is ruined by the number of youths hanging round, drinking and smoking. The moat is full of empty bottles, cans and other...More

A pleasant walk up the hill, then some good panoramic views from the castle. There are some information boards around the ruins that give some information about the site. Worth a trip up the hill if you happen to be in the area.

Visited with my partner and his sister over the weekend. Plenty parking nearby however we did struggle initially to find it with the satnav and kept missing the turning which was a pain as due to the one way system we had to drive all...More

A stunning location to visit. A full intense week of training had the evenings to venture out with my group. The castle was spectacular for photography at night. The walks and surrounding areas were tranquil. Such a friendly home from home feeling. Make a stop...More

Kendal Castle sits majestically over our town. It is a great walk up to it and the new interpretation panels really enhance a visit. Once up there you can walk around it and enjoy great view of Kendal (on a clear day).

Easy to find, just outside the centre of Kendal and the views are full 360 degrees. What's nice to see is that, for a site that is not staffed, it is clean and the signage is untouched by vandals. (That's rare where I live unfortunately.)

The hike up to the Kendal Castle ruins was steadily uphill, but manageably so. Any time I I started to feel fatigued, I caught sight of a stalwart elderly Englishman toiling up the hillside thoroughly shaming me! The ruins were fascinating providing some great photos....More

It’s quite a steep climb and there is a route that starts with shale path with leads to grass , so there is a route where there are no steps .but I do think you would struggle with a wheelchair x
