We visited the Hall & Gardens on an overcast Wednesday afternoon in May, but that did not deter us from the lovely gardens. An interesting mix of great topiary, interwoven tree lined paths and various other plants and flowers. A previous reviewer has bemoaned the lack of colour, but she must have been unfortunate as we saw plenty of colour.... More

Having seen the website and read the Disability access section in which it states clearly the house is not really accessible for most disabled people who cannot climb stairs or walk far, BUT it states that the gardens are accessible for disabled visitors, with gravel paths and sections where it would be possible to negotiate. As a disabled person I... More

This is really is an amazing place. The topiary is very well done. The rest of the gardens are tidy but not as interesting. The house was interesting too although overall, In my opinion expensive.

We visited here on a Wednesday lunchtime/afternoon. We had tea and a sandwich first before heading for the gardens. The cafe, is run in a very haphazard way and hardly slick or professional, perhaps the folk who work here are volunteers. Undeterred after our tea and sandwiches we headed for the garden, what a delight it was too. It was... More

The visit combined the house and the gardens and these were both very well worth visiting. There was a small outside eating area and a larger facility inside. The snack type food was well prepared. Plenty to see an

Took some friends from USA to see these wonderful topiary gardens. They were very impressed by the age of the topiary and the general layout of the gardens. A delight was a game of croquet taking place on the central lawn. People were picnicking in the orchard area. The plants were lovely as was the wisteria. Lovely coffee shop and... More

I have known Levens Hall for decades, but had not visited for perhaps three! No one could ever forget the topiary but there seemed to be twice as much - absolutely immaculate. With colour blocks of pansies to offset all the drama. Lots of interesting shrubs (none in flower) around the perimeter, which we mostly could not recognise. We enjoyed... More

We were in Ambleside for a short break and decided to visit Levens Hall on impulse and without any prior planning. What a wonderful and enriching experience. The house is spectacular and, quite frankly, a national treasure. We also enjoyed the gardens but it was very early in the season so I doubt we saw it at its best. We... More
