The Gallery itself is a 17th Century building and once the office of her husband (a local solicitor) called William Heelis. If I wasn't a member of the National Trust I would have been disappointed with the overall cost paid to see such a small...More

Enjoyed our visit to the gallery so much! The staff were friendly and there were a lot of exhibits to see. Definitely a must-do if you are in Hawkshead.

Finding the gallery was initially confusing. The building in the square in Hawkshead that proudly tells you it is the gallery is not! But, as you face it, turn 90 degrees to the right, to a building without such a sign, except for a small...More

We arrived in Hawkshead on a very wet May weekday. Hawkshead is a delightful and charming little town with a nice atmosphere. We went to the gallery to get out of the rain but at £13 for a couple it really wasn't worth the money....More

Enjoyed our visit here - the staff were friendly & helpful. I especially wanted to see Beatrix Potters' sketches. The building itself is fabulous - it was formerly the premises of Thomas Heeley, Beatrix's solicitor, who became her husband.

We visited here with our 18 month old son. It's a small but informative museum with bits for smaller children to keep them entertained. There's also lots of interesting information for adults too. They change their displays annually so it is always worth a visit!
