We arrived in Hawkshead on a very wet May weekday. Hawkshead is a delightful and charming little town with a nice atmosphere.

I especially wanted to see Beatrix Potters' sketches.
The building itself is fabulous - it was formerly the premises of Thomas Heeley, Beatrix's solicitor, who became her husband.

We visited here with our 18 month old son. It's a small but informative museum with bits for smaller children to keep them entertained.
There's also lots of interesting information for adults too.
They change their displays annually so it is always worth a visit!
