Lovely place to visit for the day - something for everyone but we went for the mountain biking trails. Very steep climbs at the start of all the trails but well worth it for the views at the top and exciting fast descents. Not sure I would take children here for mountain biking as the climbs are very steep and... More

Holidaying in the lakes we spent the day at Grizedale Forest. What a fantastic day. We walked along the Gruffalo trial and enjoyed every minute of the whole experience. You get the opportunity to download an app on your phone that brings the characters alive whilst you walk the trial. I recommend you do this before arriving as the free... More

My family and I went for a Mother's Day walk following the Gruffalo trail. The weather was lovely and it was such a beautiful day. The walk was great fun with lots of clues to follow for the kids to find the Gruffalo....we found him! The kids loved the walk and is adults enjoyed it too, I highly recommend this... More

We went for a lovely walk. Route choices available depending on time & ability. We chose the Grizedale Tarn Route. It was well signposted & there were lovely little things for children to enjoy at the beginning & end. One section of the route followed a road for quite a while which my 10 year old daughter found boring. Once... More

We visited Grizedale forest for the 1st time yesterday with our dogs. This place is so nice with stunning views. we did the yellow trial & this was perfect for our old dogs with only 1 steep bit & it's safe to let your dogs off the lead. After the trail we walked around the grounds & sat outside &... More

We are avid supporters of the Forestry Commission right through the UK. Every weekend we are off on a new adventure with a moaning hubby, three girls and a fat dog. We came here a few years back and to be honest, it was a bit minty. We had a great day two weeks ago and how loverly after traveling... More

Took our toddler here having downloaded the gruffalo app. We'd been to Grizedale a few times over the years and always enjoyed it but it was great to be able to do a short trail with our little one. He absolutely loved the trail with its clues and then seeing the animals come to life on the app. A brilliant... More

With no sheep to worry about the dog can run free and the forest gives plenty of trails in which to do so. We set off initially on a relatively easy trail but were soon drawn off on a longer trail that led up to Carron Crag from where we got a brilliant view of the fells around us on... More

We enjoyed following the forest trails, but the rest was very disappointing and frustrating. Only some of the interactive activities for the children actually worked. We spent ages turning keys to activate magical forest music, but no tunes came out. The cafe was closed for refurbishment, yet it was advertised in the car park. There was supposed to be number...
