Stayed in a lovely quiet cottage out of the village...walked on the lakeside which was misty and full of atmospheric! Not your usual lakeside experience...less tourists more peace

We visited early March and the views were magnificent, a great time to visit before the hordes of tourists hit the lakes

A lovely peaceful spot with good walks around the lake, the dogs loved it and the boat is also dog friendly. Also plenty of seats for those who need to take a breather or a lovely spot for a picnic in perhaps warmer weather.

There is so much history surrounding Coniston and yet, it is so peaceful compared the honey pot that is Windermere. Take a moment to imagine the bouncing bomb being tested, or be inspired like Ransome to write a classic, or just simply soak up the beauty of the place.

Went on a 45 min dog friendly boat trip. Boat had a heated covered area which was great when the heavens opened. Out on deck was lovely when the sun returned. Crew very well informed on surrounding area and past events of the water.

Had a stroll (8 miles) which included the lake, very quite and easy to walk although i imagine later in the year it becomes busy. Dogs playground, with little beaches along the way.

There is a nice easy walk along the waters side down to trover and you can get a boat back (£11 each) well signposted (dogs must be kept on lead :( )
