Great displays and interesting information about Hull and the whaling trade, of which I knew little. Of course the general fishing trade is well covered too, as is the local shipping business. Brilliant film about the cargo vessel "Bravo" showing a wide range of cargoes being loaded for shipment across the North Sea to Gothenburg, Sweden. Now that everything is... More

We visited the Maritime Museum on Easter Sunday. We initially went to see the poppies on the outside. These are very impressive as they flow down the front corner of the building. Afterwards we went into the Museum, which was free entry. We only managed to look around the ground floor as we were pushed for time. What we did... More

What a stunning display in the centre of Hull of poppies tumbling from the window of the Maritime Museum. Lovely evening looking around Hull with all it's great improvements. Loving Hull.

Nice small museum with plenty of interest in the exhibits. The videos of those involved in the fishing industry are interesting. Attentive helpful staff. Some of the rooms were closed when I visited (April 2017).

The museum was worth a short visit we spent about an hour. It is a bit tired. But the poppy insulation is worth a visit outside the museum till early may

It is amazing how quickly the present becomes the past. Fortunately here is a fantastic collection of Hull's maritime history. Especially interesting is a British Transport film of docks in the 1950's- seems like only yesterday!

Tuesday afternoon after Easter and the city centre was very busy, queuing for 15 minutes to get into Princes Quay carpark. We had lunch in the Ferens cafe then toured the building taking our time and quite literally soaking up the culture. We then finished part of a section in Ferens over at the museum. I hadn't been inside since... More

I haven't been to the Maritime museum since the mid 90's and not much has changed in truth, the city of culture status for 2017 has allowed the place to be cleaned up, and that in turn has brought more patrons. The museum is split across two floors, with different themed areas to visit. There is information about ships and... More
