Augustus Pugin - best known for designing most of the Houses of Parliament - radically reformed cityscapes around the world.

Pugin built this church as his model of construction, and called it "my own child". Out of all the buildings he built, this was his favourite.

St Augustine of Canterbury landed very close by in 597, bringing Christianity back to England. Although is original shrine was destroyed in 1538, St Augustine's is his modern shrine, and contains one of his last remaining relics.

There are many things of beauty here, and of great significance too. Despite its stark exterior, the inside is peaceful, tranquil, and beautiful, with major stories to tell.

Our local Catholic Church, and a wonderful place to worship, or to visit. We've had a Cardinal celebrate Mass here, a Holy Door in the Jubilee Year of Mercy, as well as the BBC and other media broadcasting from the Shrine. And we have the superb Victoria Consort as artists in residence. The Victoria Consort was established in 2008 by... More

Yes, a beautiful church but now sadly incomplete as in the 1970s the monks from the adjacent monastery, in their infinite wisdom with the adoption of the new liturgical changes, allowed the removal of the Rood Screen from the Chancel to the Lady Chapel and the High Altar and Tabernacle, as well as the Pulpit, to be removed entirely, all... Pugin was an extraordinary man with a vision and nowhere is this more clear than in his ambitious project the Shrine of St. Augustine. It is worth seeing for the stained glass windows alone. A must when visiting Ramsgate.

As a Pugin fan I found the church and the Grange adjacent terrifically enjoyable. However opening times very limited in October. Weds afternoon is the time to go. A very interesting talk from the lady Guide, I think she said she'd been a teacher - a pretty good one I'd imagine. I would have been happy to spend more time... More

A very beautiful almost minature cathedral. The stations of the cross are some of the most interesting i have seen. The guide was very knowledgeable and brought the place to life. Can't believe it is less than 200 years old it looks mediaeval.

This Church is part of the House/Monastery/Church complex designed and built by A.W.N Pugin (designer of interior of Houses of Parliament and one of the finest Gothic Revival architects of the Victorian era. A definite "must visit" for all, wonderful church and memorial to Pugin

We have been visiting Ramsgate for 30 years and hadn't realised this beautiful Church was here. Even if you only have a short time , it's worth popping in to be amazed. Lots of history to find out about if you have more time.

There are often church guides at weekend who can tell you more about Pugin an the abbey. Interesting with beautiful stained glass windows.

Low Mass in the Extraordinary Form well attended by a diverse congregation from babes-in-arms to the elderly. Fascinating building, an important architectural and Catholic site.
