I took my daughter who was 5 at the time, she enjoyed dressing up as a character and the guide and other staff were very good. Place smelt funny but i guess that was in keeping with the time it was all set in. Really enjoyed the experience

We arrived at the Marlowe Theatre, very early, and we parked in their car park but it was cold, so my husband suggested that we go over the road for a drink.

The staff were friendly enough, drinks were reasonably priced but not great.  Wine was OK, Diet Coke, which was Pepsi on tap, which my husband felt was a bit flat.

It was dark and sparsely furnished and it was colder in there that sat in our car.

We won't be going back.

This is my favourite pub in Canterbury, Iove the candles, drink prices are good and the staff are always so friendly.

This attraction takes you through a pilgrims travels to Canterbury. As you move from area to area you pass through time to the takes of Canterbury . The exhibition is very well put together with authentic smells and costumes that really take you to another time.

Each section focuses on a story or poems from Chaucer’s tales.

There is a bit of audience participation. All adds to the experience

Staff are part of the cast ad set the scene.

A great experience. Well worth a visit.

Good introduction to a few of Chaucer’s tales. Some narrated by and actor and some listened on audio. Tour takes about 40 minutes. Maybe a little pricey (£31 for 2 adults, 1 child), but we used Tesco vouchers so great value for us.

Popped in here with my husband before a show at the Marlowe. An oldie worldy pub which has the potential to be great. Sadly i feel
I need to rate it as terrible due to bugs crawling all over the carpet on the stairs in the side room. I came out itchy! It was expensive and the wine was not very good. What a shame. I will say though that the bar maid alone was great and was actually very skilled at managing the pre- theatre crowd. I could be persuaded back if they clean the carpet!

It wasn’t a great start, the person on the reception desk started dealing with us and broke off a couple times to deal with someone else which was extremely rude, and made us feel under-valued as customers.
The 2 human guides were personable and friendly, and the electronic guides were good, however the whole experience only lasted 40 minutes, at £32 for a family ticket it was very expensive for what it was. The short part of the stories were true to the original , slightly ribald for young teens or young children.

Popped in for a quick drink before seeing a show at the Marlowe theatre opposite. It was cold!!! Also very dark and sparsely furnished.

£4.70 for a pint and a small lime & soda. My husband commented that the beer didn’t taste great and the pipes could do with a clean so we didn’t preorder interval drinks as originally intended.

Could be so much better.

Love this pub - filled with candles and the fire is usually roaring. Also has a jukebox which we love putting old school songs on whilst sipping on our drinks. Atmospheric, cosy pub - we come here often and always enjoy it!

Popped in for pre Marlowe drinks. They had no rose wine, no Stella Artois - ended up with glass of (warm) white wine. Didn't smell great in there generally and the toilets were really scruffy. Shame, because we would love to use a good local pub for pre theatre drinks. Canterbury was heaving with a sold out run of War Horse, but pub was pretty empty. Missed opportunity to make a packet!
