We have been walking the coastal path by way of training for the round the island ultra run (bf entered not me). Whilst walking the route we have seen some gorgeous sites and had our breath taken away more than once. Though difficult to reach sections we have been doing loops from various car parks or using the trains at... More

Caught the bus from Lake into Ryde. Set off on the walk along the sea front at Ryde and heading to Appley Tower. Further on from this if the tide is in you have to head in land. On a rainy day like the start of the walk was its a bit of a crappy walk. Eventually cross the causeway... More

I've done 4 sections of the coast path this week. Loved them all. Great scenery. Really varied. Some are easy and flat - Shanklin to Sandown. Others have steep challenging sections - Ventnor to Shanklin. Alum Bay to Freshwater Bay via the Needles is spectacular. Worth checking at a tourist office for details before you start out if you're not... More

Have only been mainly the south of the island & the views on a sunny day is absolutely stunning lush green grass to one side while breath taking views on the other, sat on a bench for a rest @ the top of ventnor when we heard a Russell in the bush behind when we looked round a kestrel flew... There are essentially 2 routes along the front and they are both much, much easier than the Shanklin to Ventnor walk, however there are some slopes / steps that you must cope with which ever walk you take. On the walk that we did, the upper walk, part way we were diverted down a relatively steep slope/steps to the promenade... More

We must have chosen the best weather day of the year so far, blue skies, blue green sea and not a cloud in sight. Set off from the ferry port at Yarmouth and stayed on the coastal footpath all the way to Freshwater, when the bus timetable meant we had to cut our journey short and return to base near... More

We have walked all over England but keep returning to Wight. We spent a week here at the end of April. While the weather was not the best (snow flurries one day!). The beautiful scenery makes up for it - you are always near water. The trails are well marked, relatively uncrowded, never boring and with a little planning you... More

Took the hovercraft from Southsea to Ryde as foot passengers. So easy and quick! Then walked from Ryde, stopping for lunch in Bembridge. Stopped near the RNLI and had a great half lobster salad for lunch! Passed across Whitecliff Bay - stunning and then across the cliffs and down into Sandown ( magical walking down!). Then caught one of the... More
