As previous reviewers have said, the Mappa Mundi is well presented with knowledgeable people on hand to explain things. The chained library is just that .... books on chains.

Well displayed and organised, gave an understanding of the significance of the church as a source of teaching and scholarly activity. Chained Library is less well explained, but is an unusual feature, found mainly in the biggest old libraries, if at all.

It is well over 30 years since I have visited the Mappa and chained library. It is now housed in a building specially built and the exhibition is well curated. The guides were most knowledgeable and helpful. Well worth a visit.

The Mappa Mundi is one of the most impressive thigs to see in hereford. Its a ancient map draen and illustrated by monks many hundreeds of years ago that shows the world from a Christian perspective and has Jerusalem at its centre

Incredible. The map is amazing as you would not have thought that that amount of knowledge of the world could possibly be collated back then. Helps with Unicorn origin myths too.

I’d say 3/4 hour. But worth doing the Mappa Mundi and chain library. There are concessions for children & families. About the same time the main cathedral. There is an outside and inside Cafe for a relaxing break.
