Located outside the city in a road called King Alfreds Place is this 12th century church. We have relatives that live in Monks Road, so we know the area well. Well off the tourist track and in a residential area. Humble inside.

St. Bartholomews church on King Alfred's place in Winchester was built in the 12th century, then rebuilt centuries later. This church has great architecture and is very picturesque.

We visited Winchester to see our daughter who has just moved there. As St Bartholomew's had their Michaelmas fair we decided to visit.. The M3 was blocked so it took forever to cross the city and we arrived as things were winding down. Nevertheless we...More

This is a very picturesque and quiet church tucked away on the outskirts of Winchester, and with the ruins of Hyde Abbey nearby, where King Alfred the Great was buried.
