A triumph. The best of 3 very high quality museums at Penninsula Barracks. Strongly recommended. The Curator is to be congratulated on the immaculate exhibits and high quality lay out. Worth every penny of the £2 entry fee.

Well laid out and easy to follow the history of The Kings Royal Hussars and it's former Regiments over several hundred years. Interesting displays. informative without trying to provide too much information. Something for everyone, including children (the story of the man in the cupboard!) Friendly welcome by the assistant curator.

This is one of about 5 military museums located in and around the old Penninsular Barracks and is a snip at £2 entrance fee. There's a short introduction sound track and then the history of the Regiment flows from inception to modern day tasking. They took part in the Charge of the Light Brigade and served in most operational theatres.... More

Drove down from Surrey with some of my grandfather's WW1 memorabilia which I was donating to the museum. Received a very warm welcome from the Curator and the museum assistant who were delighted with our offering. The museum may be small but full of good things and my 6 year old grandson was able to dress up as an Hussar... More

We just happened to be passing and as I'm not particularly interested in military history I thought I wouldn't want to stay long, but actually the exhibits and displays here were really interesting and I'm glad I stopped by. We stayed about 45 mins but could happily have spent a little longer here if we'd had time. Well worth the... More

3 great regimental museums within short distance of each other. All were excellent. England tells the story of its military hero's so well and we thoroughly enjoyed all of these museums.

We really enjoyed our visit to the military museums in Winchester; the horse power museum which is attached to the gurka museum (through a door) is informative and of a high quality, however in my opinion it is small.

This museum is also known as "HORSEPOWER" and tells the story of the various mounted regiments of Hussars. One is rather put off at the entrance by the very pompous voiced narrator who sounds like a comic caricature of a retired Daily Telegraph reading colonel. The museum traces the history of the various mounted horse regiments from 1715 through campaigns... More

Well worth the £2 admission and some wonderful stories about some amazing battles in Britains military past.
