We came across St Lawrence's by chance on the way back to our hotel. It's easy to miss it, but it's worth a visit. There is lovely engraved glass meeting you as you enter and leave, while inside it is an intimate and peaceful place to sit and be quiet. It also contains a memorial to the doctor who attended... This church is tucked away in a beautiful alleyway just off the cathedral square. There is a welcoming atmosphere and the interior is both interesting and attractive.

Well worth a visit. A new Bishop before he is enthroned has to meet the Dean here before they go up to the Cathedral.

Many of the really old architecture has been unfortunately updated, but you can see remnants of the Normans. See the plague that lists the gifts to the poor - unique donations.

Another accidental discovery - beautiful respite near the Cathedral. Quiet and cool on a hot day, peaceful and stately, calm and spiritual. Highly recommend a momentary stop to your day - near the buttercross.

A tiny, peaceful and peace-filled space in the bustle of a busy Saturday in Winchester. We loved the patchwork altar-cloth. Thank you to all who work hard to care for this church.

A beautiful church that has lots of leaflets on show and don't forget to sign the visitors book and say a prayer in the church itself.
