We've wanted to visit for ages due to our childhood passion for Southampton local character Benny Hill. We ended up walking along the cemetery enjoying the quiet and taking photos of the older graves. A beautiful, relaxing place to visit.

Probably one of Southampton's best cemeteries. In the top three, I'd say. Only bested by the cemetery by Southampton Common and the cemetery by Southampton General Hospital - my personal favourite.

I visited yesterday (23/5/17) with my camera to get some shots and I was not disappointed! Some of the gravestones/memorials make for very interesting shots and especially if you go when it's overcast. I've attached some of my photos I took.

Although not right in the middle of Southampton the cemetery is a centre for the Dead, as with most cemeteries this place is tranquil and interesting, the gravestones tell short, interesting stories and the lichens are as ancient as the stones.

I walked through the old cemetery on the way to the common - the ground is uneven, subsiding in places and overgrown in other areas... it is somewhere that works, you can get lost in thought and explore the grounds. Quiet to be alone with...More

I have a thing for cemeteries and enjoy wandering around looking at the gravestones and what they have to tell us. Probably due to my profession, I am interested in all things History/Archaeology related. This cemetery is quite large and its organisation demonstrates how it...More
