Expensive day out in comparison to other places nearby however it is somewhat expected due to its location and touristy approach. It's fun and informative and very well run. It's just a shame it's a once a year sort of thing.

Was really looking forward to taking my partners boys to this as I enjoyed it many years ago. Very disappointed. Not as much to do now as there used to be. Unless your child is under 7, it’s too old for them. The wall was great for the younger boy. The older boy the harness was too tight and they wouldn’t change it. There was no interaction with the staff. One member of staff was rude. Was more interested in reading her book.
We have an annual pass. Prob won’t go back in a hurry

This used to be a great day out for children. Went back for first time since 2019 and most activities have now been removed. All that’s left is a mini ninja course for very young children and a climbing wall. Outrageously overpriced for a family visit.

Solo adult with 2 primary school children. We purchased a season ticket to the whole dockyard which allows use of Action Stations each time, our first trip.
We enjoyed the rock climbing wall & the small queue was worth the wait because they got a lot of time on the wall - you fill out the permissions tablet whilst waiting - the indoors assault course, the play area, the photo opportunities, gift shop and tables for a picnic lunch. The staff were very friendly & professional. We didn’t use the laser quest on this visit, could see they were set up for a party booking which was good to learn.
Kids were miffed they were too big for the younger kids area but this means kids of all ages get to enjoy what is meant for them). This visit really made for an extra special day incorporating looking round the dockyard & the HMS Warrior too. I don’t see us visiting the dockyard and not going into Action Stations.

We have been visiting Portsmouth Dockyards for decades with our disabled son, and his favourite attraction has been Action Stations. The reason why is all the hands on activities, the simulators and of course the cinema at the back where they show a 30 minute film about what the Royal Navy does.
Now my son is in his early twenties, has learning difficulties but he still loves this place. After the lockdowns, we took him back there twice over the past year to find Action Stations was being refurbished, however we decided to use up our Ultimate Explorer tickets one final time, and good news, Action Stations is now open again!
Now you would think that after a full year’s closure, it would have some excellent improvements, but no. Not a single simulator in sight. The cinema is gone too. Instead the whole place is full of various types of climbing frames and a Laser Quest.
There are Laser Quests and climbing frames all around the country. If the simulators were worn out as people say in other reviews, why could they not be refurbished during the year it was closed?
At least my son had a harbour tour instead, apart from a scary moment when the mooring rope snapped in Gunwharf Quay, but I can’t see the point of getting any ultimate explorer tickets in the future.

I bought a single attraction ticket to visit Actions Stations having visited it before 2020 when it was a fun trip out for kids. I feel very ripped off. It is a shadow of what it was and contains only one activity suitable for an under 5 and only 3 things for an older child. We were finished in 10 minutes after paying £19 for a child. I understand the dockyard is in a difficult financial position and it probably was not viable to re open Actions Stations containing all the activities it previously had. However, I checked both the website and the FB page to find out about the Actions Stations reopening and there was nothing stating it was not the same as it was. They seem to be aiming it now as a few free activities to do along with a 3 attractions ticket and that makes sense. However they should be honest about the fact that it is no longer a stand alone activity. They also should not be selling single attraction tickets to people without making it clear that it is now a very different and much smaller place than it was.

Was included in part of our ticket for the wider dockyards so popped in to take a look.
Is aimed at children, andvif not part of the all inclusive ticket would probably be expensive in it's own right.
Nonetheless sill keep kids happy with interactive activities. However when we went at the end of the day it was clear some of the systems were "overloaded" as many electronic interactive things needed someone to press ctrl_alt_delete on to reset them. It wasnt that busy, and whilst spacious, could do with more to keep everyone entertained and simultaneously educated.

A nice family afternoon, plenty to see and do and fully accessible with a lift etc... my son enjoyed it and the queues moved quickly. Various things to do for all ages and all indoors for those rainy days.

Went here with boy 13 & girl 9, both found lots to do and get very "hands on" with equipment. Plenty of bangs and competitive items where appropriate
