The Charles Dickens’ birthplace museum is located on Old Commercial Road, Portsmouth. As you enter the road through the brick wall entrance from Church Street you are seemingly taken back to a street scene from the Victorian era. The buildings are beautiful and bursting with...More

I visited Portsmouth specifically for two reasons, the famous maritime museum and Charles Dickens’s birthplace. When I arrived at the Dickens house, I was the only visitor. Before I left, several other people did visit. Viewers enter the house through the lower level, which happened...More

The house of the famous writer is an interesting museum where you can find several things belonged to Dickens (also the sofa where he died) and related to the historical background. You can buy books and gadgets in the shop.

Perfect for literature lovers and readers of all types, whether you're a Dickens fan or not. Particularly poignant is the fact that they have the sofa that the great man died on.
