I have good and bad points about my visit to Osbourne House. My first surprise was how expensive it was on entry. I did enjoy my visit but there were so many school children you could not concentrate on what you were seeing or reading in the rooms. It seemed to ruin the atmosphere. The grounds were lovely to walk... More

We used the local bus service to get to Osbourne House which drops you off at the end of the entrance road. There is a dedicated path for pedestrians on the site so no worries about passing cars. This is an English Heritage site and they are keen to encourage taking out s membership. We used our Gardeners World 2... More

What a fabulous family holiday home and what a fabulous family. I came here without too much enthusiasm thinking just another stately home but was delighted that there were wonderful gardens and grounds as well as a house that is shown to you in such a way as for you to really get a feel for how the Royals would... The large house is full of Queen Victoria's family memorabilia & collections. The extensive gardens & grounds are beautiful especially on a sunny day. We walked down to the Swiss Cottage used by the children to 'play house' then down to the bathing beach. A lovely day out for all the family.

I know its what the royals liked, but it was just so rammed with beautiful brickabrack you just couldnt appreciate any off the contents in their own right. A real issue for English Heritage I suspect. A tenth of the paintings, sculptures and quality tutt would have been better appreciated. I loved one item, which was the lily chanderlier in... More

Lovely afternoon spent wandering around this amazing house. Food was nice and not overly expensive. What would have made this 5/5 would be more plaques explaining what I was looking at. It is also rather expensive to get in. 4 of us was just shy of£60!

Went very early in the day & popped into the cafe for a drink. Only downside was that there were alot of school & coach trips arrived at same time so got very busy so felt like you were unable to spend time looking at the many exhibits due to te volume of visitors,

I had not previously been to Osbourne House and did not know what to expect. I couldn't have been more impressed. The house is spectacular, the gardens are magnificent, and the Swiss cottage, museum and private beach are all interesting in their own right. The staff were all very knowledgeable and attentive, thus ensuring that my visit was as pleasurable... More

I can see why Queen Victoria loved this spot on the IOW so much. There's beautiful grounds to walk around and the architecture in the main house is stunning! The employees were all very well educated and happy to share there knowledge on any questions we had. A great day out, would definitely recommend.
