I pondered a long time while considering what rating to give as I wanted to be fair and there was so much that was really lovely about our visit, but we paid to SEE an opera, and that we certainly did not do. We were...More

Actually, that should read "including Bayreuth". We should know - we've been to both. Anthony Negus and his dedicated team, repeatedly serve up magnificent performances in a perfect, intimate space. They are launching a new "Ring" in 2019.

We had seen a presentation by the owners. Drove through the grounds to see for ourselves. It was a Surprising place of classy entertainment way out in the rural area.

Loved this experience. Gorgeous grounds. Excellent service. Delicious buffet. Delightful opera. All in all a really pleasing evening. If you have the chance book the tickets, you will enjoy the whole occasion. Dress up, everyone else does.

Saw Handel's Xerxes, excellent production by young opera singers - the they will go far! Loved the English high tea during the interval.

Beautiful surroundings, operatic performance of high standard and a interval allowing the essential picnic. Black tie (although not mandatory) helps to make the experience extra special.

Tucked away near Moreton-in-Marsh, Longborough Festival Opera House is an absolute gem. Smaller than Glyndebourne, this mini-Bayreuth gives amazing operatic performances, specialising in Wagner. Mostly in black tie, the audience is able to enjoy a long interval for wicker basket picnics, Pimms and champagne or...More
