Don't bother to go to the main part of town just go straight to Montpellier District as the shops, bars and restaurants are fantastic. I could of spent thousands of pounds.

It's only a 10 minutes walk to the Montpellier District, located south of the town centre and Promenade areas of Cheltenham, just past the Imperial Gardens. The buildings are originally from the early 19th century and run alongside the Montpellier Gardens. Historically, the district has been popular for nearly 200 years, since the introduction of the spas and associated entertainment... More

My wife and I spent a few hours wandering around the Montpellier area over the Easter weekend. The buildings are lovely; the area is clean and litter free and quiet. There is also a good selection of nice restaurants and hotels around.

Great selection of shops in a lovely setting, plus great bars and restaurants, a nice change from noisy enclosed shopping arcades.

Wonderful area to unwind with a Gin Cocktail after hiking through the beautiful countryside. Great bars and restaurants. Must try's are Brasserie Blanc and Crazy Eights bar at 131 Promenade

I stopped in Cheltenham for a couple of hours, and actually it was enough. There's a few nice streets, with some nice shops. In front of the town hall is nice. Signing-posting could be better, and the Tourist Office it also hard to find.
