- J c5 contributionsGreat experienceLoved seeing all the different birds, from owls to parrots and penguins, a really nice experience all round. The 11.30am flamingo talk was really interesting and the guy giving the talk kept us all entertained. flamingos are now our families favourite bird.Thank you so much for visiting and for leaving this great review! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed our birds, in particular the fabulous Flamingo talk! We hope you'll be back again soon. - AJR208London, United Kingdom6 contributionsGreat morning with kidsA really lovely morning at Birdworld. It is in a lovely setting with the river winding through the park and it was great to see some of the birds in the river with plenty of space. My 4 year old really enjoyed searching out the Halloween themed pumpkin letters in the enclosure which added another level of interest for her. Plenty of room for the toddler to run about and a nice playground too. We enjoyed the flamingo talk and the Jurassic area too. Even during half term it wasn't over crowded. We will be back!Thank you so much for visiting and for leaving a great review! I'm so pleased to hear you had a lovely morning at Birdland. We hope you'll be back again soon. - christine sStourbridge, United Kingdom682 contributionsA well presented Bird park, for all ages.We had visited Bourton before ,but not noticed the Birdland, park,so we came for a half day out here,OWE so interesting, birds from around the world, well kept, and fed, good displays, friendly staff, first the king penguins, never seen close up before, and in a good water enviroment, you can see them underwater swimming ,through glss panel sides of the pool. Lots to see here and read, great for small children to get close up views, especially at feeding time. We had 4 hours here, looking at everything so take your time, lots of seating areas.Thank you so much for visiting and for leaving a great review! - That Girl Who ReviewsNorthampton, United Kingdom1,704 contributionsGreat Bird ParkSuch a lovely Bird Park, I really enjoyed my visit. Given 4 stars just because the park is a little tired in parts and could do with a lick of paint here and there. Having said that, the bird collection is extensive. Not much in the way of birds of prey and not tonnes of parrots but a wide variety of stork type birds, ducks, flamingos and a fair amount of owls. The King penguins however did steal the show on this occasion, a unique asset to the park and a reason to visit as it is the only place in England that has them and they are so damn cute. Makes a good place for a couple of hours out.Thank you so much for visiting and for leaving this lovely review! I'm very happy you enjoyed your time at Birdland! We hope you'll be back again soon. - RosRDGReading, United Kingdom30 contributionsLovely placeWonderful visit to Birdland. Lovely friendly welcome although the first parrot wasn’t want to say hello to us! Then you see the king penguins - wow what a sight!! Disappointed to see none of them swimming but they were beautiful to watch. Penguin talk was very informative and funny when the kings decided to join in, amongst their flirting they made a right racket! Lots and lots of birds of different varieties and great talks. Plus a dinosaur trail which although small was good to walk around and read. Very well priced entrance fee and cafe. Would go again and recommend.Thank you so much for visiting and for leaving this wonderful review! I'm so happy that you enjoyed your day and meeting all of our amazing birds. - Lindsey T1 contributionLovely family day out and great staffCame here with our 8 and 4 year old boys and had a great day. Beautiful setting, lots of birds to see and the boys very much enjoyed the Jurassic Walk and the playground. The cafe was lovely. Clean, spacious and with a good choice of tasty food. The children loved the book corner and the spinning reading chairs. As we were about to leave, our 4 year old tripped and hit his head on the path. Staff were fantastic, with two of them immediately coming to help, bringing first aid and being generally very reassuring to him; sitting with us until we were happy he was ok. I didn't catch their names, but thanks to both of them. A lovely place. We will be back.Thank you for visiting and for taking the time to write such a lovely review. - Rebecca dOxfordshire, United Kingdom67 contributionsPenguin dreams come trueWe visited Birdland in half term, with our tweenage son taking part in a penguin feeding experience (had been bought for him for Christmas). The penguins are certainly the stars of the show for us, great knowledgeable talk about them - and fantastic to be able to see King penguins in the UK - Humboldts are always good fun. It’s good to see Birdland continuing their support for both species of penguin, when other UK places seem to be dwindling. The keeper was absolutely first class - and funny too. My son had ‘the best day ever’. A great opportunity for him to access the thing he’s interested in doing for his career. I also notice that the cafe and toilets had been improved since our visit last Summer. My teenage son now wants to return so he can have tater tots and chilli again! If you like birds, it’s definitely worth a trip.Thank you for visiting. It's great to hear you had such a good time at the park and your son enjoyed his Penguin Feeding experience. We really appreciate the recommendation. - Kimberlysj2013Gloucestershire, United Kingdom50 contributionsLovely day out, even in the rain!A last minute trip with my three children (6,4 and 2) and we all had a lovely time. It rained almost the entire trip but we still had a great time which says it all really. The main reason for visiting was the mix of dinosaurs for my dino-mad son and the penguins for my youngest so it felt a perfect destination! They all loved the dino dig area and as it was undercover we also took advantage and had our snack and drink in there. The dinosaur area was nice and spread out and lots of photo opportunities. There were lots of different birds to see and they looked to be in clean environments. I would say the whole place could do with a bit of a make over as it looks a little dated in areas but overall it wouldn't put me off coming again. The toilets were clean, the staff were friendly, nice little gift shop. Two 'huts' serving snacks but not a great deal of choice. The one serves drinks and snacks like crisps and choc bars only and the other serves that plus pasties / sausage rolls but not much else (in fact I think that might have been the only options). My children have asked since to return so overall I would recommend and will be backThank you for visiting. It's lovely to hear that you and your three children had fun at the park (especially with the dinosaurs and penguins!). We really appreciate your feedback as continual enhancement of the park and facilities is a high priority. We hope to see you again soon! - fluffievellutoHenlow, United Kingdom1,016 contributionsPenguintasticIt was my birthday weekend, staying in Bourton, and I was planning on driving to Coltswold Wildlife. However, when we realised that Birdland was walkable we decided to give it a go. To be honest I wasn't expecting much but the penguins were absolute stars, the flamingos loud and playful and I nearly got gobbled by a pelican! However, the dinosaur walk was a waste of time for us (we're not younguns) but the snowdrops were pretty. For late January it was a dry and bright day and we spent a good 2+ hours looking at all the residents. Chose to then have a late lunch in town so can't comment on the cafe. If you love penguins - it's fab!Hi there, thank you for your response We're so glad that you enjoyed seeing our penguins on your birthday weekend! So let start by saying my 2 year old son loved it. But thats purely for the penguins and dinosaurs. The staff we saw on the door were amazing as well. However the price for what you get, I feel was excessive. Especially as you have to pay a booking fee on top, i am all for supporting local businesses but not when they add charges on like this! The toilets where disgusting and the space some of the animals had seemed very small, the turtles were closed for some reason, which was disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it if you had any children older than say 5 as its very samey but young children seem to love it

Thank you for supporting the park by visiting us at this time, and for taking the time to leave a review.
I’m so pleased that your son enjoyed his time exploring the park and Jurassic Journey.
The well-being of our birds is always of the utmost importance to us and our team are always happy to answer any questions you may have whilst exploring the park.
I’m surprised to hear you found our toilet facilities to be disappointing as we are operating an enhanced cleaning regime at this time – did you inform a member of staff?
We thank you for your feedback.

It was raining quite heavily and had been for hours despite the weather forecast predicting bright spells. So having booked our trip to birdland for 2pm was slightly annoying. We arrived half an hour early, because when it rains in Bourton-on- the-water, everyone runs for cover and everywhere is literally full.
We hoped the lady at the desk would take pity on us, we have 1 and 4 year old. We asked if there were any way we could get in earlier as so many people were leaving, she said no. We said it was pouring and we would like to leave earlier than planned and the lady actually said,"Not my problem". Yes actually. And repeated it. numerous times. We couldn't believe it. I get the answer of "no", i fully understand, but don't be a complete idiot about it.
When i asked the other lady if we could just take cover for a couple of minutes before we go in as we were cold, she was rude too. "How can we do that and be socially distant?" Despite us wearing masks and there being a screen. The shop is tiny, there were loads of customers in there!
I was delighted to see that when the lady came round to mark us off the list in the rain, her umbrella broke. Karma, eh?
Once in the park, there was totally no effort made to prepare for the bad weather. No parasols open or indoor seating. It was crazy. There were only 2 or 3 toilets for the entire park.
We spent longer in the queue then we did in the park. Some of the penguins wouldn't even eat the fish, and let's be frank they'd eat anything. Im sure the girl who had paid for the "bird experience" probably wanted her money back.
We won't be going again or recommending it. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is that I'm giving one star to the Marabou storks who looked just as miserable as we felt.
If you can't be kind, be furloghed.

Great little attractions minutes from our hotel. Plenty of variety of birds and the penguins were extremely entertaining.
The birdland is dog friendly as long as they are kept on the lead.
The Cafe next to the exit was clean with a good outside seating area, quite expensive though so would recommend taking own soft drinks. £2.50 for a small bottle of coke was a bit of a shock.

We had a nice walk around in the birdalnd. We were quite lucky as the weather was so nice and we really enjoyed our visit. I particularly liked I could see the animals - especially the penguins - from such short distance. However I feel the admission fees are a bit over price considering you can pay almost similar amount for a proper visit to a zoo. We spent almost 2 hours in the park and I don't feel you need more than this unless you decide to have a picnic there.

We had a wonderful visit here with our two year old and six month old. We felt safe as there was plenty of space to socially distance as well as hand sanitizer spread out around the grounds. We loved seeing all of the different birds and our toddler loved looking for dinosaurs too. It was nice that it didn’t feel too busy and we enjoyed a drink from the cafe and time on the play equipment, would definitely recommend. Thank you.

Birdland was a wonderful place to visit set in the beautiful Cotswolds. We took our grandchildren there for a day out and they had a wonderful time.
What a huge disappointment when we decided to go to the flamingo point cafe. The food was way over priced and we waited half an hour at least for what was cheap and not pleasant food. But then the icing on the cake were the toilets. Our 3 year old needed to go so I took her to the baby changing room which also had a toilet. I’ve never been so disgusted at what I saw for an establishment like that. It was filthy, the toilet, the sink and the floor looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for weeks. I didn’t look at the baby changing unit as I had already decided to change our 7 month old back in the car. Never again would we step foot in that place.
There are lots of lovely cafes in the village and would certainly go there next time.

Thank you for visiting Birdland and taking the time to leave your feedback.
I’m so glad you had a wonderful time exploring the park with your grandchildren.
I am disappointed to hear your comments about the toilets - this is not the usual standard we would expect as we keep these well maintained and managed throughout the day with a strict cleaning rota. I understand you made a member of our team aware of your concerns on the day and the situation was remedied immediately.
Many thanks,

The last time we visited was about 5 years ago and not much has changed but that was fine. It’s a fairly small park and good for a few hours.
The highlight was the penguin feeding experience, which I had booked in advance (only one slot per day) my son absolutely loved it and the keeper whose name I have forgot was fantastic, very knowledgeable and had lots of interesting facts about the birds. It lasted longer than I had expected so that was a bonus to.
The park itself is great, very interesting and the birds seemed to love having visitors again !
The place did look like it was suffering from lockdown fatigue and needed some maintenance but I put this down to lack of funds due to covid.
The cafe was quite expensive It was over £10 for a panini and a coffee (which was very nice) I didn’t mind paying it because of the current situation but if we weren’t in lockdown then I would of found that excessive.
Parking is available next to birdland but as it is council and available to everyone it was full so we ended up driving to the one next to the co-op. Worth bearing in mind if you have a time slot booked as we did !

We had a truly wonderful morning spent at Bird Land. Everything felt Covid safe although we did put our face masks back on when everyone crowded in to see the flamingo's being fed. Everything was clearly marked and very easy to follow the route around the park. The guidebook with map was good value for money and very informative about what goes on behind the scenes to care for the birds. The enclosures were clean and birds evidently well cared for. The penguins were amazing and there were plenty of opportunities to view them from a range of platforms. We visited as soon as it was open so it was relatively quiet and we had such a good view of all the birds. We really liked the hives in the Jurassic area and spotted local birds feeding from the seed stations. Thought the entrance price and food in the cafe was very reasonable.

We bought tickets for the 12-2 slot yesterday for 5 adults and 2 children, and Birdland did not disappoint. It wasn’t crowded, there was sanitizer everywhere, it was spotlessly clean, bins were emptied, the sandwiches from the cafe were delicious. The children particularly enjoyed Jurassic Land after doing school projects on dinosaurs, and it was a bonus to see the playground has opened up again. We could not fault the 3 hours we spent there, enjoying a picnic in the playground which was lovely and peaceful. Well done to all those who work at Birdland, you have done an amazing job!

I had booked general admission for myself in addition to the penguin feeding experience for my husband as a birthday treat, he absolutely loves penguins and this was the main reason we visited the area. So pleased we did, Birdland has a great variety of birds to see and it’s fabulous to be able to see a different species of penguin because as much as we love humboldts, they seem to be widely used in animal parks across the UK.
Chris was on hand to help my husband with his experience feeding the penguins, and the experience was relaxed, not at all rushed and my husband was absolutely thrilled to spend some time with these magnificent birds. Chris was informative, chatty and friendly and did a great job of the presentation taking into consideration he is not the usual keeper for the penguins. This is not a place you could spend an entire day, but you can get a hand stamp and come and go as you please. There are plenty of other things to see and do in the area too, we enjoyed a coffee by the waterside before we were due back for the experience.

Hi, do you have a time slot to arrive if you book online and are there bird hides where you can see kingfishers.
Written 20 June 2023
When I booked online you just select the date you require but no time slot. I don’t recall seeing any bird hides when we visited back in February this year.
