Lewes Castle is open year round, and has a wonderful view from the top of the Keep. Next door is the Barbican House Museum with displays of the history of Sussex.

The views are lovely and the kids loved this but as castles go, it is not my favourite. They have done well with what there is available but it isn't the best attraction in town.

Joint visit to Anne of Cleves House in Lewes then a short walk uphill to the castle ruins. Its a nice piece of history to read about and visit. Lewes itself is a lovely place.

Centrally located. Historically interesting. Need healthy knees for all the stairs! Remember to take up to date English Heritage card!

Not a great deal to see, but lively views and an engaging museum. Little kids may find this rather dull, although mine enjoyed pretending their umbrellas were bows and arrows and fighting off invaders!

This is the second time I have visited the Lewes Castle. The first time I visited in November. I recommend seeing it during the summertime. The grounds are well kept with lovely flowers. The views are great. I am a bit squeamish about winding staircases...More

We'd been to Lewes castle back in 1999 and returned on a trip in July 2018. It's just as impressive 20 years later. It's pretty unique having the castle basically in the center of town so when you get to the top of the climb...More
