Stayed here several times. There are so many hidden gems in and around Kemptown. Lots of funky bars and plenty of eateries. Nice alternative to The Lanes although in close walking distance to them. Several great places to eat around here and then venture down to the beach. Worth a visit if you want to try something new.

Our first time to Brighton and we were very happy to stay in Kemptown. Easy walking distance to all the great shops, restaurants and beach. Many good pubs and cuisine of all kinds. Fabulous shopping in the Lanes. Several historic attractions, as well.

My wife and I moved independently down to Brighton from London 20 years ago and moved to the edge of Kemptown when my wife fell pregnant. We lived there for three years and only moved out because we needed a garden for our family. I still drive down from our new house in mid-Sussex for a walk down the beach... More

Kemptown's organic fruit and veg store is called SEED AND SPROUT. It's proprietor, Paul, is a national treasure. He's knowledgeable, charming and oh so handsome. He has freshly baked breads and scones and his fresh fruit and veg is local so you get to taste a bit of Sussex County while you're in it. The best restaurant in all of... More

Living in Brighton I often walk through Kemp Town and regularly meet friends in one of the many independent coffee shops/restaurants there. If you get off the main through roads there are many little streets full of interesting and quirky buildings. Whilst walking along the southern side, along the main coast road you get to see all the grand Regency... More

Stayed in the area for the weekend, lots of nooks and crannies to explore, loads of places to eat, had such a fab time. Markets and unusual shops to browse round, not far to Brighton centre if you want to explore further. Loved every minute of it. Definitely somewhere to return to over and over again.

There's something about Kemptown that embodies much of the character of Brighton without being like Brighton in many ways. It doesn't have 'chain' stores of Brighton, but does have some quirky shops where you might be able to buy some! It has its own character and is reputedly the 'gay' quarter of the city which makes it so well known.... More

Kemptown is one of the districts in the city of Brighton & Hove. In the 1960s, I lived there for a while and occasionally I revisit this area. It is that part of Brighton lying to the east of the Palace Pier and the Royal Pavilion and to the west of Black Rock and Brighton Marina. It is a very... More
