Small site, mosaics partly covered / screened with glass panels, some of the lights were not working , so unable to see in full glory ! Worth a wander around.

Lots of information given on boards, no entry fees, you can do the whole visit in about 45 minutes, but probably best to take longer, walking distance from Dorchester town centre.

Nicely preserved Roman ruins that clearly show how these houses would have been used. Lots of information available to enhance your visit. Found this site interesting and well worth a visit.

A freebie. Some of the remaining walls are in the open, but the bulk is under cover to protect the remains. Useful displays help to explain the layout of the building and how it probably developed over its period of use

Free to see, albeit now encased in a steel and glass construction after too much vandalism, are the remains of the mosaics, as well as the walls of a grand Roman house. Those parts of the house/farm that had no mosaics have been left open....More

We visited Dorchester on a Sunday so many areas were closed but the Roman house was open as usual. I love historical architecture and this is one of the best. It really shows how advanced the Romans were in terms of technology having underfloor heating,...More

This is a wonderful find. I find it quite refreshing in its unfunny presentation. The mosaic floors are truly impressive. Nearby are sections of the old Roman city wall and just opposite is a charming bridge and the chillingly named Hangman’s cottage. All in all...More
