This beauty spot has been immeasurably improved recently by the removal of the surrounding pine plantation. Avoid car park by the monument itself, now ran by an individual who charges inconsistent prices from a hand written and not always displayed price list and and if you refuse to pay locks your car in. Plenty of other places to park a bit...More

Nice place to stop. Picnic tables. Parking national trust. Free if you are a member. Walk up monument for great views. Water bowls for dogs. Nice walks.

Passing the monument we decided to take advantage of the clearing weather. Lives up to its name as a viewpoint highlight on the Dorset coast. Views of Wetmouth Portland Bill and as far as isle of wight. Worth a stop if you get the weather.
