We were a little put off by some of the reviews as it seemed to be a challenging walk. We certainly didn't find it as demanding as others, we were up and toured the fill fort within 1 hr. A very impressive and informative site....More

So it’s a decent walk to get there, particularly if you chase your children straight up the steep ‘sides’, you’ve got to be fit to do that or, like me, it will hurt later! But once there and on a clear day the views are...More

Having seen this most from aerial shots which are stunning we decided to stop here on our travels west. Free car park about 10 mins walk slightly uphill to the plateau and a good opportunity to walk around the ditches and mounds. Nothing much else...More

I certainly am glad to have visited this famous & highly important site: well worth doing so. The walk/climb is pleasant & the views excellent. There are no staff (or else presumably the decomposing sheep at the entrance might have been moved) & explanation boards...More

Maiden castle is a huge Iron Age fort made up of enormous banks and ditches. It is very interesting to see how the it was all constructed and amazing to think of the primitive tools used and the manpower needed to create such a defensive...More

Beautiful view from the top and tranquil vibes. Many sheep on the walk up and down, wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty. Free entry and car parking.
