I took my six and four year old girls here today to the Autumn Weekend Event. Brilliant museum - something for all the family. Enthusiastic, knowledgable and helpful volunteers.

A unique institution, and a great testament to what a group of passionate enthusiasts can achieve. I spent an hour in the Geology room, and an hour in the Heywood Sumner (Archaeology) room. I could have spent much longer, and I will return to cover...More

This is an incredible place. Some amazing things to see but what really makes it stand above the rest for me is the knowledge of the volunteers here. They answered all of our questions and were able to give us lots of facts and history...More

Very welcoming and volunteers are extremely helpful and friendly, I even got a guided tour of the geology section. Packed with fossils, on display and in drawers. I would say keep your children on a tight rein not a place for them to run riot....More

Interested in any area of science? Then this is the organisation for you. Apart from twice weekly lectures and regular field trips there is an amazing building enclosing a museum, library and lecture hall.

As far as I understand, there is NO charge for admission to the museum, although donations are very welcome. The museum does regular Tuesday talks & events (there were 85 talks in 2017) and even most of those are free.
