Overview
More
Kents Cavern is by far Britain's most important prehistoric cave used by ancient humans for the last 500,000 years including Neanderthals and early modern humans. The caves are open every day for guide tours, 7 days a week with natural caverns, amazing natural formations, remains of mammoth, woolly rhino, sabre-toothed cats, an Ice Age woodland trail quest, nice shop and cafe with views over the Ilsham Valley. The closest hotel to the attraction is the Gleneagles, inspiration for TV's Fawlty Towers. We are 2km from Torquay Harbour and only 15 mins walk from the South West Coast Path and local beaches, well-known to previous visitors like Agatha Christie, Beatrix Potter, George V, Alfred Wallace and Charles Darwin. Perfect for a rainy or sunny day by the seas, winter or summer.

a well maintained decent attraction. The only piece of advice is make sure you know the timings so that you don't waste time hanging around waiting for the next tour - we have to wait for about 40 minutes.

Interesting to look round and good guide. The outdoor section/walk was also good. Not for young children - it is dark and slippery.

Spent time here during a rainy afternoon. The tour took about 1 hour. The tour guide, Alan was very informative and had witty stories to tell as well as good information on the cavern itself.

Had a great day here. The tour guide was brilliant at his job and had us all laughing. My 8 year old son was amazed by it all and is still talking about it a few days later. Would recommend

Visited Kent's caves with my husband on a break away from the kids, at first I was a little bit sceptical about the young children that were also on our tour as I thought they would probably end up scared and start crying which I...More

beautiful to see the stength of stone movement from prehistoric times, very nice guide Alan, who explained everything and made nice jokes with all the children.

I suspect they pray for rain here, as it was certainly busy on a wet weekday. Crowds were handled well, however, and the tour (c. 50 minutes) was both enlightening and safe underfoot. Tour guide David amusing throughout. The bit with the shells and the...More

While the visitor centre has wheel chair access, the caves themselves are not accessible unfortunately. They don't allow wheelchairs in the cave as it gets too narrow and there are also steps on the route, making the tour... More
