A very well kept Church

Loved the history surrounding it and reading the headstones of the long dead.A very old church still in use.

Plymouth doesn't have an anglican cathedral despite it being a city. The minster church of St. Andrew's is a must visit, beautiful stain glass windows and lots of history and heritage. If you are there when the bells are being rung it is beautiful to listen to as is the splendid organ

The early services (0800 communion) cater to the traditionalists with the Book of Common Prayer being used. The mid morning Sunday service is inclined to be very 'family friendly' - guitars & children. The Easter Sunday Service was nearly full. A real tribute to the vicar & his team.

I never really understand Tripadvisor's approach to sub categories. You would expect to find St Andrews and several other Plymouth churches in that section. I like St Andrew's as an active very well suited large spiritual space used and very popular for both spiritual and secular events. The interior is one of the most sensitive and fitting in the city.

Pity that there aren't some interior photographs showing more of the interior. It is a beautiful peaceful space.

St Andrew's was bombed in WW2 - the following morning someone had inscribed "Resurgam" [I will rise again] on a piece of timber. It was later carved onto a lintel and marks the entry to the rebuilt church. Its restoration is marked by a remarkable collection of 5 stained glass windows, the centrepiece based on the themes of earth, air,... More

There should be more interior photographs posted with this listing. It is simple and serene with spectacular windows, a first rate organ and ample clear light.

Not been in for a while but we came in today for an excellently put together Thanksgiving Service for a dear old friend. The organ was spectacular, the church looked and felt great, the family had balanced the series of addresses and hymns perfectly and Joe's touches were deftly done.
