Overview
More
Undisturbed Burrator is surrounded by mixed woodland which sharply contrasts with the open moor and rugged Dartmoor tors. The reservoir is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders due to its wealth of footpaths and bridleways. Many of the trails lead on to Dartmoor so it makes an ideal starting point for longer trips. The circular walk which follows the lanes around the water is ideal for families as it is easy going and flat. It will take between 1.5 - 2 hours to complete and is approximately 3.5 miles. Parking is possible at various locations including the Quarry car park, Norsworthy Bridge and the Dam.Low cost bank fishing for both rainbow and brown trout is available at this scenic water; permits are sold at the garage in Yelverton.Being within Dartmoor National Park we kindly request that you drive and park with consideration to other users and animals. The National Cycle Route 27 runs near to Burrator further information is available on the sustrans websiteIce cream vans visit the dam, Norsworthy Bridge and Sharpitor car park.

My wife and I parked at Norsworthy Bridge car park and walked (via the marked public footpath) to Down Tor circle and stone row. This is a very impressive ancient site and well worth visiting. Although the route is not particularly clear, the best approach...More

The reservoir and the surrounding water catchment area of woodland, farmland and moorland is owned by Southwest Water, but the public has unrestricted access to the land and woods which are managed with this in mind. There are numerous places to park and no parking...More

Lovely place to go with young or old, can do long, demanding walks or short, easy ones and great views all round. Can visit the Learning Centre and talk to guides. Activities laid on too - just check out the website.

Burritos attracts lots of people from Plymouth during the holidays and weekends due to it’s easy access to the city. If you want to really enjoy it I would go during the week when it’s quieter. It’s a great location with lovely Tors all around...More

Sheepstor is a must climb to see the amazing views of Dartmoor and abouts. The view of the reservoir from there is amazing. After the climb up the Tor and back down we chose to drive around the reservoir, rather than walk the 5 odd...More

Here is one of the most besutiful places that i have ever been. You can go around the lake by car. The scenery is amazing. Lots of horses and sheeps eating grass. Downside is it does not have restaurants or coffee shops nearby.
