Lovely

By urban standards its quite a nice place to go with young children. However, dog waste, litter, broken glass and other unsavoury delights spoil the picture.

The neat little lodge beside the gateway to what used to the grounds and drive of Mutley House, has long been idle after efforts by a conservation group had problems with developers and others. The lodge sits on the edge of Mutley Park and 15m from Thorn Park, both very popular and well used as well being in the midst... More

This park is brilliant, the kids park is in the shade which is perfect for the sunny days. Good selection but could do with more when its busy. Close parking.

I walked through this lovely formal park last week only to be saddened by the Council Planning notices on many lamp posts announcing their intention to seal and lock the entrance to this delightful and original facility by installing bars a gate and secure lock. What's the point of that. It's the only place for males to relieve themselves in... More

How can this be? Dogs are banned unless on a lead because the council labels this as an 'ornamental park'. So what is ornamental about it? Snaking Tarmac paths, close mowed grass and a mixture of mostly common suburban tree types. No statuary, topiary or fountains, fish in ponds or fancy flower beds. Something and nothing. Probably helps local house... More

This week we came through here only to see a dog warden reprimanding a dog owner, who was plainly behaving responsibly with his show dog, on the basis that it had to be on a lead. The warden then disclosed that as a result of very many complaints, they were targeting other regular dog walkers. Never made clear what the... More

Not a fun place but a bit like you might find around a National Trust house. I read somewhere that it was for a long time a private park for residents but was confiscated or compulsorarily purchased by the council after WWII. It still has a slightly exclusive feel. I like the review of Hillycirencester which gives a much more... More

Nothing exceptional but a pleasant place to sit or walk in a peaceful residential area. We found it on the local co-op marked walks map. On our Thursday night there were very well rung bells from the closeby parish church, several groups of children playing ball games, a small organised group doing formal exercises with what looked like canonballs and... Short of the bandstand, you don't get more authentic than this. Our family have had many happy picnics (lasting all day!) here since 2008...take a tennis ball and a bottle of wine and the kids will play and the adults can chat in the sun. If you told our kids about the reviews complaining about too many trees they would... More

There are many trees in the top part so on hot summer days you can take a good walk around without taking the full heat of the sun. The other lower part of the park with the big flat grassy play area and the slope down to the swings and climbing frames attracts lots of families and is more fun.
