It is a fine piece Victorian engineering, the Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway is unique as it is powered by water alone. George Marks, believed to have been a ‘disciple’ of Isambard Kingdom Brunel designed the cliff railway with funding provided by local benfactor Sir...More

We were visiting Lynmouth for the afternoon and saw the railway so thought we had to give it a go! It was a good, fun experience (I would recommend standing out on the platform to get the full effect) but we were at a bit...More

Certainly the best way to see the views and also kinder on the legs. It’s a fun way to get between Lyndon and Lynemouth.

We really enjoyed this trip! We went out of season so no queues and really reasonable prices. Both villages at the top and bottom of the railway have a few nice shops and pubs to mooch around. Nice to read about the history of these...More

You just have to give this a blast, if you're visiting Lynton/Lynmouth. It's a bit pricey, for what it is, at £13 return for a family of four. However, it's much easier than climbing the hill up to Lynton!

The cliff railway takes you from Lynmouth up to Lynton and is well worth trying, the views are spectacular and the journey is worth its cost (it's an extremely steep walk if not). It's great to see it still working and well looked after

Had a return trip from Lynmouth to Lynton. It’s very popular and we had to wait for the second car. Would recommend as there aren’t that many of these left now.

There is coach parking in Lynton and Lynmouth but there is a short walk. The operators will advise you of any rates. for 100 would probably take 5 - 6 journeys due to the lift size.
