Nestled at the end of an alley in the heart of Exeter, The Bike Shed Theatre is an award-winning performance space and cocktail bar.

We make and present productions with and from some of the finest small-scale companies in the UK. Meanwhile, our bar extends a welcome before and after each show, as well as those who enjoy a midweek cocktail or a dance into the small hours.

Having been on Tuesday with a friend, I returned on Thursday with 5 of my family. The intimacy of the theatre is ideal for such a presentation. This "play" is essential for anyone interested in mental health issues. David Ralfe presents a difficult subject with compassion. Our ages ranged from 73 to 18.

Excellent intimate theatre with great range of acts. However, we have been coming here since inception and the beer choice has got worse. If there was better choice we would come early and leave late but we never have more than one. Such a shame as we have friends that say the same and you guys must be missing out... More

I'm very late to the game with this place, I'd heard great things but never quite made it here. But now I have, I wonder why I waited so long. It's a quirky venue which is very welcoming, the theatre room is small and intimate (warning- you may well get drawn into the performance!), and the cocktails in the bar... More

A favourite of mine in Exeter, relaxed bar which does lovely drinks and it often has good music and you can have a dance on the little dancefloor. Often slightly eclectic music and crowd which is fun. We went last night to see The Castle Builder in the theatre. First time seeing a play there and it was a really... More

On my first visit to the Bike Shed Theatre I was immediately struck by the spacious, comfortable and inviting nature of the bar/lounge area. The bar was really well stocked and I'm sure many an adventurous cocktail could be consumed! We only had coffee - which was very nice. Sat in comfy armchairs whilst we awaited the main event. The... We went to watch James Acaster perform standup on the recommendation of an online article about the venue. It certainly did not disappoint. It's a quirky, trendy place that is steeped in character. You HAVE to see something in this theatre as it's like no other. Me, my wife and our friends had a great night and will be going... More

We visit the Bike Shed theatre whenever we visit Exeter. We love it's eccentric intimacy. There is always something interesting to enjoy. Jonny and the Baptist's dystopian view of post Brexit Britain was funny and thought provoking. The performance of Eat the Poor was prefaced by medley of sharp satirical songs and ponderings. After the Interval their witty songs were... More

This was my first visit to the bike shed and it exceeded expectations! Great cocktail menu, quirky surroundings and a lovely atmospheric 'theatre'. Really reminded me of some of the great Edinburgh venues I visit during the festival and that can only be a good thing.

I am a regular patron of the Bike Shed Theatre, it is a friendly little theatre in down town Exeter. The relaxed feeling always makes you feel welcome... The theatre shows a wide range of acts, play, standup, musical and I've even seen a puppet show of sorts. There is also a friendly, comfortable bar, this is great if you... More
