Located below Tintagel Castle, the birthplace of King Arthur, this cave is believed to be where Merlin lived. The caves are accessible from a footpath, but fill with water at high tide.

The cave is enhanced by the legend and stories of Merlin-moderate sized cave which has been eroded to become a tunnel through the rock- not accessible at high tide. If you are visiting the castle don't miss it!

Absolutely beautiful, especially with the waterfall behind it. Unfortunately the tide was coming in so we couldn't get through to the other side.

Nothing to see there except a cave that gets filled up with the tide. What it has do to with Merlin us unclear, he'she certainly couldn't have lives there. It's a good excuse to climb down to the beach and walk around a bit.

Merlins Cave is worth the walk if the tide is right. There were even people swimming after the walk down!

Merlins Cave sits at the side of Tintagel Castle Cove & only accessible at low tide. It's quite a size & you can walk all the way through to the other side which gives it quite a different feel as it's well lit. Really great...More

thanks to the staff, we visited this just on time because the tide was coming up and then the cave becomes unaccesable. Many stairs down (and climb up again), but worth while. A little cosy sandy beach in front. A beautiful waterfall on the other...More

If you visit Tintagel, you have to visit Merlins cave. You can only get down to where it is if the tide is out tho'. If you half believe the legend of King Arthur, it's well worth the walk down and the exhaustive walk back...More

It's a decent size for a cave and well worth the visit. Best to go in off season
