We stayed only five mins away from this beach and although it was a real clamber down over tricky rocks we loved the beach. Very expansive beautiful sand and hardly any other people ever on it. Shells in abundance. Great for the family but no good for babies or elderly due to tricky climb down and up!

This by far is my favourite beach of St. Ives. Access is by the coastal path, between Carbis Bay and the Park and Ride, but worth the walk. The beach has no facilities, so probably not ideal for young families, but this is also a plus for those who want to enjoy a quiet beach, just bring sufficient water and... More

Love St Ives but in Summer not great for dogs due to beach bans. Discovered Porthkidney sands last year and liked it so much stayed in Lelant, 15 min walk away, this summer. Once you walk down the steps onto the sand you have a real OMG moment. It is just one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen.....and... More

This is the most natural and unspoiled of the beaches around St Ives. Accessible from the cliff walk, or down a long path from the nearby village. Not really suitable for small children unless they are quite hardy, but there is a lifeguard at peak times. Dog friendly all year. Often empty, even at busy times.

This beach is amazing, miles of golden sand, often completely deserted. The only reason is that it harder to get to. But if you like peace and quiet and spectacular views and you don't mind a bit of walk, this is the place for you

A fantastic dog friendly beach situated at Lelant near St Ives wouldn't recommend this beach to anyone who is either in a wheelchair or unsteady (elderly dogs included ) on their feet as access is via some very steep steps

This beach does not get too busy, plenty of space for your dog to run free, beautiful sandy beach and crystal-clear turquoise sea,

Long curving sandy beach close to Lelant and adjacent to coastal path. Took our Portuguese Water Dog here several times during our visit to Cornwall. The tide comes in and can limit the access but you can also reach the beach via the coastal path so it is not problematic. The water is glorious turquoise even on a misty day.... More

Wonderful beach. 10 minute walk along the coastal path from Hawkes Point where I was staying. Very small part of the beach is dry sand, however, as the tide comes in a very long way. Very thick wet sand hard to walk in at times but nonetheless beautiful.
