Tate St Ives features work by iconic 20th century artists who lived and worked in the town, including Alfred Wallis, Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth, demonstrating the role of St Ives in the story of modern art. This is combined with a new programme of large-scale seasonal shows. Our current exhibition, Virginia Woolf: an exhibition inspired by her writings, runs until 29th April 2018.

Visited on a miserable wet day (the only one of our week's Cornish holiday). Dumped our soaking coats in the cloakroom and headed in. Our children (13 and 8) both found plenty to grab their attention in the galleries - artists they had come across...More

Virginia Woolf exhibition is incredible. Our tour guide this morning was fab- can’t remember her name but was a local artist and had real enthusiasm and personal stories about the artwork on show. Really made it for me! Thanks 👌☺️

Thank you for taking the time leave your comments following your recent visit. It's great to hear you enjoyed the exhibition and tour. We have tours daily at 11.00(Virginia Woolf) and 14.00(Modernist exhibition). They last approximately 40 minutes, and are a great introduction to the show.

Laura Knights is one of the few figurative and genuinely lovely painters on display, but there is plenty more to admire and to stimulate thought, debate and interest. Maybe that isn’t what art is all about, I’ll admit! But as an enjoyable place to visit,...More

I'd like to think that I have some appreciation of art but found it very difficult to appreciate most of the pictures / art on display at the Tate. A few lines and colour here and there, squiggles and paint slapped on just didn't grab...More

5 star. Unmissable. Relevant for today and evocative memories of yesterday. A beautiful, in-depth history of female artists and writers of the 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries who have all been inspired by the untamed beauty of the Cornish Coast.

We have been down to St. Ives on many occasions, but this is the first time we have visited the Tate Gallery. Nice building. Great history of local artists and it influence.

Very popular time to go to this venue as weather very damp - made use of the useful lockers to be more comfy for our visit. Despite it being quite busy, had plenty of opportunity to visit all the galleries at our own pace and...More

We went with an open mind as much modern art is very subjective but many of the pieces had overtones of The Emperor's New Clothes - not even worthy of hanging on a school wall, let alone in a new gallery. We read the labels...More

This was my first visit to this Tate Gallery. Having visited the two in London I was very impressed with the exhibits. I was particularly interested in how the gallery came into existence. It is connected to Barbara Hepworth. The building is circular and replaces...More

We visited the Tate with our 10&11 year olds in January. Mixed feelings from different members of the family but all agreed it was worth the visit over all. We loved seeing a Picasso, and the views out of the gallery over the beach were...More
