From the local Cornish coast to the dazzling beauty of the Tropical Reef, Newquay Blue Reef aquarium has an exciting world of underwater adventure waiting to be discovered.

More than 40 innovative displays vividly bring to life the sights, sounds and smells of the sea, whilst regular feeding displays, rock-pool workshops and informative talks provide a fun and fascinating day out.

Visitors can enjoy the closest of undersea encounters with amazing aquatic life including seahorses, giant octopus, pulsating Jellyfish and fierce Piranha.

At the aquariums heart is a spectacular coral reef display housed within a 250,000 litre ocean tank - home to exotic tropical species like black tip reef sharks and Omiros the rescued loggerhead turtle. As well as hundreds of brightly-coloured reef fish and a huge Southern Stingray.

Enjoy the sheer beauty of the display by taking a journey through its very own underwater tunnel, as well as through a number of viewing portholes, a floor to ceiling window and even enjoy close encounters from the surface - where Omiros often likes to pop up to say hello!

Situated on Towan Promenade in the heart of Newquay, Blue Reef Aquarium not only offers a beach on its doorstep but also an amazing experience, whatever the weather!

Think they charge too much, 2 adults and two children for a 30minute tour £36. Place looks like it needs a facelift and also the inside could do with one too. If the price was lower say £20 then maybe a 3 star rating as you wouldn't feel as hard done by. Definitely other things better to bring kids, better... More

We visit a lot of aquariums, as our son is mad about sea creatures (blame the Octonauts), so whilst staying in nearby Porth it was obvious we'd visit Blue Reef. Its location is excellent, looking out to sea and from outside our expectations were high. We must admit we were slightly underwhelmed, it's not a cheap visit for a family... More

There is a pay and display car park located near the aquarium. You will need change to put into this car park. This is a good place if you want to spend some time looking at lovely fish and marine life. The underground tunnel is really fun to spend time in. It plays music from Disney under the sea and... For a fairly small aquarium lots of interesting sea life, and the tunnel you can walk through was great.

Not a bad selection of things to see but very small and the building is run down . OK if you have some cash to dash away. Ages 1 and 4 kids.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed with your visit and felt that the price is too high. Our current pricing means that we are much cheaper than many other aquariums in the UK and in-line with other local attractions. We do also provide opportunities to listen to regular talks and watch feeds that often extend each visit, plus don’t forget... More

We had a wonderful day at the aquarium. Our son of 4 was instantly drawn to the aquarium and was not disappointed. We thought that, although the decor may have needed touching up in spots, the Easter theme and quiz were great, and all in all this is probably better than the aquarium in London!

Nice aquarium but small, even doing two quizzes we only spent 1 hour 15 mins there. Need talks more often, as we couldn't waste another hour to see one.

We visited with our children for the second time yesterday (the first being a few years back) it's a lovely place with some amazing sealife to see and plenty of information. It didn't take us long to go round though and we did walk slowly! Still, a great place to visit while in Newquay 🖒
