The day we walked round it was very cold and windy but didn't deter us. Did the whole circuit in about an hour or so. Interesting way to see Chester.

Walking round the walls is an excellent way to get a feel of what Roman Chester used to be like. There are signs to read at various places en route which tell you certain facts about that specific point. You can just imagine the Roman...More

I did my first walk along the walls a few years ago and recommend to anyone visiting Chester, especially for your first time as it takes you around the many lovely sites that Chester has to offer.

Spent a couple of hours strolling around the walls of Chester. Most interesting with plenty of diversions, pubs, shops etc. Would advise reading up on the internet, or buy a guide, prior to doing this walk.

It was a lovely walk round the walls, as it gives you a different view of the city. It certainly helped us navigate to where we wanted to go. Also nice to see they are still in good shape with the age of the wall.

This morning I walked along the city wall I accidentally fell down from the stairs because of the floor was too slippery. So watch out ! when you walk otherwise we will get a big bruise on my knee just like me:(

Sorry for the delay in replying. The wall is free and open at all times. No guided tour but plaques explaining local sights and information at various points along the wall. The castle keep is free to to look around.

Loads of car parks in the centre, Grosvenor Hotel car park entrance - 1 mins to walls. Law Courts / river area car parks - 1 mins to wall. Race course / Market area car parks (lots of them) - 1 mins to walks - hope this helps
