This is a very busy part of Sark during the day time. But once the day trippers have gone the shop seem to shut up which is not a lot of good when you are holidaying on Sark .I can't say I blame them why stay open with only a festival potential customers. All in all the Avenue has mist things... More

Maybe as we are coming to the end of the season but a few units are sitting empty and wasn't really that much to see aside from a few restaurants which gave enough choice for a lunch time visit.

This Avenue is an interesting place to stroll down. Full of gift shops, cafes etc. The main street of the island.

Honestly why would anyone come here? Shop owners are rude, the place is covered in horse excrement and dead rabbits - run over by the tractors and horse drawn carriages. Local people occasionally say hello but most don't give you the time of day and some actively blank you. Went in to the post office to inquire about a postcard... More

The Avenue was rather disappointing with many places closed down and others not offering much choice. The constant flow of tractors was a pain, so much for an island of peace and tranquility. Let's ban small quiet cars and replace them with big noisy tractors.

We visit Sark for a week each year and have witnessed the decline of The Avenue over recent years, which sadly is now mainly a row of closed premises/businesses. There is still among other things an excellent Post Office, general food store, estate agents, silver studio, upmarket gift shop, cycle hire and a kind of souvenir-come-tat-shop, a charity shop, hairdressers,... On one side are the "original" shops, with some interesting buildings and plenty to look at. On the other side are some modern, empty properties. It is a pity to see them empty but there are clearly reasons for that. The post office is brilliant and is a real treasure trove with a lovely friendly lady behind the counter. At... More

Sark has 1 main street with shops, some are food shops, cafes, a bike hire, post office. This is where to get your daily bread. Sadly some outside influences have made rents so large that 3 businesses are closed, there way of stamping their feet when they didn't get their own way! Sark is a lovely place and the Avenue... Shops, places to eat and stroll. This two way avenue got very crowded with walkers, dogs, on the leash and bikes by afternoon. Just an average street on an above average Island.
