Visited this famous man's house which involves a self guided tour round the house. You hear about Cromwell's life, his efforts in the war and his life in Parliament. The team running the attraction ask visitors to decide if he was a hero or villain...More

We are glad you enjoyed our poll which as you say is very popular and usually always comes out in favour of Cromwell being a hero!

I must admit to not being aware that Oliver Cromwell's house was in Ely until looking up other places to visit when here looking at the Cathedral. Although a relatively small house, don't let that put you off of a fascinating landmark of English history....More

Inevitably pro Cromwell. It tended to gloss over his bloodthirsty history however it gave me some more insight

Although this is only a small museum, it is thoughtfully presented. The electronic audio guides are excellent, and you get a good feel for the person of Oliver Cromwell and the times he lived in - and you're challenged to think whether he was a...More

With an audio guide to take you through the various rooms, you can set your own pace, and find out more about the aspects which interest you. The displays are well thought out, especially the moving character in the study! The Haunted Bedroom didn't quite...More

It's well worth spending an hour or two here. The material is well presented and the audio guides are interesting. Ely itself is a very good place to visit. The whole area looks well maintained and, most unusually, all the public car parks and public...More

A very worthwhile visit. The house is very well preserved and contains many original items. You walk from room to room and feel very much drawn into the spectacle. You can sit down beside the great fireplace in the kitchen and imagine yourself being carried...More

Very interesting history lesson today, visiting the home of Oliver Cromwell. The price in was very good and the running commentary was a bonus with looking around this house. Unfortunately because the tour of the house is over 2 floors, wheelchair users are unable to...More

Many thanks for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your visit. Wheelchair use is unfortunately limited to the downstairs rooms only but we do have an interactive kiosk that provides an insight into the rest of the house.

I thought I knew something about Oliver Cromwell but the informative audio guide was a revelation and dispelled a few myths, including the famous one that he banned Christmas. It is recommended that the tour can take up to 1 hour but you can listen...More

Sorry for the late reply... You'd be fine with the downstairs of the house as far as I can remember, but I'm pretty sure there was no wheelchair access to the upper area... Probably best if you contact them to make sure... More
