Overview
More
Built in 1766 as a place where the people of Bristol could come together, Bristol Old Vic is the oldest continuously working theatre in the English speaking world. It was built as a symbol of the pride we have in our city and what it can achieve and remains a place of joy, discovery and adventure to this day.

Historic theatre in the heart of Bristol. Charming historical touches throughout while benefitting from modern, first class theatrical requirements.

The restoration is impacting the foyers and bars but we could still see the wonderful old auditorium. Very good value seats in the Pit for A Monster Calls-have never heard so much sobbing from a theatre audience! Could do with better signage directing theatre goers...More

This place is a gem... although externally the place is hidden by scaffolding and boards, it’s nice to know that the council are renovating such a historic place. Inside it is basic but cosy... the theatre itself is beautiful in its intimacy, with a gorgeous...More

I attended a play here with colleagues and we had booked seats in the Pit but had not appreciated how small the theatre was so probably circle seats would have been better as they are elevated but not by enough to lose the view. The...More

We went with friends to celebrate our joint 58th Wedding Anniversary. Although the main entrance was closed due to building work, the performance and audience enjoyment were unaffected. A beautiful theatre and a moving play, not just for children.

One of my favourite buildings in Bristol, the building itself is the show and a great place to visit in Bristol.

An iconic Bristol building, it’s currently undergoing extensive renovation works which means that the main King Street entrance is not in use and you have to enter via the rear stage door. As you get in the first thing you come to is a bar,...More

You won't regret a trip to the old Vic. We went to see The Cherry Orchard - which was a first class production. But worth a trip to the circular theatre alone, with its timber tiered seating and beautiful Georgian plasterwork. Its a fab place,...More
