The main food hall was bustling, which made for a great vibe. And there was a wide and appealing selection of vendors for lunch, ranging from Middle Eastern vendors brimming with colorful salads to more traditional English foods. The only bummer was to see a couple of the stalls occupied by chain vendors with locations elsewhere. Still, a great place for lunch, especially as a solo traveler. The other halls (shops, etc.) were fun to explore—bit of a flea market feel. I was surprised that so many of the vendors were closed on a bustling weekend, though. Overall, a great addition to the list when visiting Bristol—great food, pretty buildings, interesting history.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 25 October 2023

Although it’s not the biggest market I’ve visited, there’s more than enough stalls and shops to explore. We went on Saturday and although it was raining, there were quite a few street vendors selling jewellery, candles etc and we foolishly didn’t explore the market fully. They have an indoor part to the market, which homes a small organic café, which attracted a lot of customers, with stalls selling clothing, children’s toys and souvenirs. We revisited on Sunday and unfortunately it was like a ghost town, a few of the shops were open but once we had a look online, there was quite a few street food vendors that were closed on the day which we revisited. As Sunday’s are quite popular day for markets, it’s a shame that not everywhere was open. Overall, a nice market with a nice range of options. But if you’re planning on visiting on a Sunday then I wouldn’t bother.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 13 December 2023
- Natalie K15 contributionsGo!Great little market, reminiscent of Camden when it was cooler! Great food options- so much choice. Wish we’d been able to visit more than once. Shame the food stalls all close by 5, would be nice if some were open a bit later at the weekend. Pulled pork box was superb & amazing value for money!Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 26 February 2024

During our leisurely walk we admired the interesting variety of independent traders and took a look at the wonderful food stalls which offered a world-wide selection of meals cooked on the spot. We very much enjoyed the experience of this historic Market!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 May 2024

We had eaten just before going but the food outlets in the market had big queues and smelt so delicious. All different cuisines were available. The market stalls were very varied and the stall holders were friendly. It was a very enjoyable experience.Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 9 September 2024

We went down on a very hot friday, there was food stalls on the lead up to the main street. Some stalls were around the entrance to the market; jewelery, cbd oils, paintings, locally made crafts.
Inside the market there was little ventilation, masks were required.
Not quite what expected inside, more local market the independent crafters, though some lovely things to have a look at.

This huge market in central Bristol seems to sell absolutely everything: food, clothes, gifts, children's toys - you name, it will probably be there somewhere.
There's a large indoors section, in the historic Corn Exchange, and many more stalls outside. Well worth a visit, especially if you're looking for something you won't find in the chain stores.

A group of us did this tour when we were in Bristol for a short break and all thoroughly enjoyed it. It takes about one and a half hours but there is very little walking involved as there is so much to see and find out about around the Corn Exchange. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and very entertaining, taking us through Bristol's history from Roman to the present day. We had the chance to explore areas of the building not usually open to the public to find out about its previous uses in WW2, as a music venue and more recently as a setting for major TV dramas. We had a great time, highly recommended!

As the title says, everytime I'm in Bristol I have to visit here and recommend everyone else does too.
Plenty of variety and well priced places to eat. Eat a Pitta, Pieminister, Matina, Caribbean Wrap and many, many more. All worth checking out.
For even more variety, check out the rest of the stalls. There's so much to look at, there really is something for everyone.
It wasn't open on my last trip but the bookshop is a great, stacked shop full of hidden gems. That leads me on to my favourite shop World Fossils. There's a great collection of fossils, gems, minerals and all for a reasonable price.
Perfect place to spend an hour or so and venture back another day to catch some things you might have missed first time round.

Saint Nicholas Market – One of Bristol’s hidden gems, Saint Nicholas Market is Bristol’s largest collection of independent retailers and includes a few indoor buildings with trading stalls and a large outdoor produce/farmer’s market. Those who are staying at Airbnb homes in Bristol may find that the produce market offers the best shopping for fruits and vegetables in the area. We found it such, and bought more than we could eat our three days in Bristol. The market was named Britain’s Best Large Indoor Market in 2016. It is located in downtown Bristol and has been in operation since 1743. Open Monday through Saturday 9:30 to 5 pm. There is a special Christmas market open for the 40 days before Christmas and a street food market on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 to 2:30 for lunch. Worth going to see even if one is not looking to buy anything because of the sights and characters operating in the market. Visited late Fall 2019.

This area of the city of Bristol, really is a diverse and very family orientated area too visit if you're in the city ..
Whether it's business, or friends meeting up as we were doing, and definitely an area that families can easily enjoy some time here without any hesitation..
There are many food cabins that cater for quisine tastes from around the world..
The aromas as you walk around the stalls are just amazing..
But do be prepared for the ques as the day builds up on sat& sun as we experienced..
But that's a goid thing in my opinion..
If there's a que, food must be good...
There are craft type stalls, you'll find books and other such goods as you bimble this market area..
( note..on the sat, just off the market area, a minute or two's stroll , is Corn Street.. )
Take a bimble there if retro clothing, old tools, books, records, etc etc are your thing, as stalls set up there selling such items..
It's almost an extension of the market , but nothing to do with it..
The market area itself is accessible from Corn Street, Baldwin Street and Wine street..
So very easy to enter the area..
Now, I have given this area a 5 and it deserves ot for the reasons I have written about..
But, one small negative I need too advise about..
Toilets...
Unfortunately there weren't many that we encountered and that meant ques at certain busier times of the day..
But that maybe we didn't see signs, or there were more and we simply missed them off of the market..
But I write as I see or do things in my reviews..
Definitely a very vibrant, area with a totally relaxed area during the market times and very much worth walking around if you're in the city of Bristol..

Charlotte and I came here to explore ahead of meeting our other pals. There were lots of different shops so we did find it entertaining. However, we didn't buy anything due to the excessive prices.
Charlotte had this to say: I had my eye on on soft toy frog, no bigger than 15cm and it was £14 which was overpriced in my humble opinion.

Always so lovely to visit to smell the amazing foods on offer. Always struggle to chose from the amazing choice! This time I had a chicken and chorizo paella which was lovely but boiling hot. Only downside is there isn't a sitting area that all the stores can use. My friends and I went to three different stalls for our food and then had to stand in a corner to eat as the owners of places with seating wanted to reserve places for their customers.

I saw several small(ish) dogs on leads when I was there - the alleyways can be a bit narrow

Are there many clothing and shoe stalls? Branded items etc?
Written 14 March 2015
The clothing stalls are the more unusual items - certainly not your run of the mill high street stuff. Don' remember seeing any shoe stalls, but there might very well be.
