Palace in the town center which can be visited on weekdays. at a cost of 2 euros (children up to 11 years free). The guide who accompanied us told us about the life of Barozzi (son of a shoemaker with the dream of becoming an architect) and what has happened to this palace over the centuries. Truly incredible!! Not all rooms can be visited. It's worth going to visit because the staircase (which is the real point of interest) is truly extraordinary. We thank the association of volunteers who keep such a structure alive with so much passion and love. It's a shame that no one is now interested in this jewel because it would need a major renovation and without it, over time, it could become compromised.

The visit of this palace is certainly to be associated with that of the fortress which it is located in front of. A little modest on the outside, the building which bears the name of the most universally known architect with the epithet Vignola has a beautiful self-supporting staircase designed by him, a true miracle of technique and elegance. There is also a hall decorated with trompe-l'oeil frescoes and other interesting rooms. The lady who acted as our voluntary guide told us everything about this place and it was a truly pleasant visit.

Barozzi's spiral staircase in the Palazzo is an amazing masterpiece, an elliptical spiral with 5 cycles, the guide could tell endless stories about it, unfortunately only in Italian...

The staircase is pretty and well worth the 2 Euro price of admission. But as is often the case in Italy, there's a gatekeeper: a sweet old lady who offers a historical explanation before you are allowed to see the staircase. And she likes to talk. A LOT. Not for 10 or 20 or even 30 minutes. Without taking a breath. In Italian. That's a heavy price to pay.

The staircase is stunning, and the history of the palace is really interesting. The guided tour was in Italian, but we have learned enough to understand most of what was said - not sure if they offer the tour in other languages. From the outside the palace doesn't look like much, but it's worth the few Euro to take the tour and see the place. Of course the famous staircase is the focal point - I could have spent a lot more time there taking pictures! How he was able to design it is still a mystery, and the paint and style of it is positively beautiful. Just check the hours as they are limited - only open specific times and only on Saturday and Sunday.

Not everyone who has visited Vignola has seen this gem! It represents an important historical feat of architecture, one of the first winding staircases without a central column in the world! For just two euros (includes a free tour in English) you can see and learn about this great achievement!

That was an interesting visit with the volunteers from the parish of Vignola acting as a tour guide. With storytelling style. It was an interesting place to visit overall. The building doesn't seems to be the usual design apart from its masterpiece, the stairs. It is indeed and incredible design. Once must certainly visit. Although, we were not allowed to visit the floor/room of the nobles, which was disappointing.

Lovely staircase beautifully decorated and of architectural value (it stands without a central pillar). The volunteer guides are knowledgeable and entertaining but only for the Italian-speaking guests.

We were in Vignola in the evening on the day that palazzo is closed (open only on weekend). We asked in the cafe across the yard and the woman called someone on her cell phone. 15 min later we had our wonderful private guide Sr. Uber ( I hope I spelled it right) arriving to give us a tour in English with plethora of historical details and very emotional artistic description. We had opportunity to see restored rooms and unique staircase and take fantastic pictures. The cost of admission is 2 euro and you can buy postcards with the famous stairway pictures. Thank you Mr.Uber
