- SapnaWaterloo, Canada15 contributionsWonderful viewsDudhsagar falls is a "must do" for anyone visiting Goa. The falls itself is very picturesque and has multiple levels. You need to park at the entrance and take a jeep ride to the top which takes about 45 minutes. The jeeps have their windows open. The soil is reddish-orange in colour and your clothes will have a tinge of red by the time you finish your trip there. So dress in clothes which are not white or too light in colour. It is a bit of a climb but very doable.Visited February 2023Written 27 February 2023
- purrdy13Trowbridge, United Kingdom320 contributionsGo early to avoid the crowds, book on line reservationsWe traveled to jeep park via a taxi, arrived 7.30 as wanted to avoid the crowds so pleased we did by the time we left 10.30 it was heaving!! Downside of going as a couple you have to wait until a further5 people arrive as minimum for each jeep is 7, unless you are happy to pay 3500rupees. Most importantly you now have to BOOK ON LINE your reservation for day of visit 25 rupees pp. email address is dudhsagarjeeps.com. Please be aware phone signal isn’t great so worth doing it before you leave home. We visited 22years ago and its still as beautiful although health and safety plays a bigger part nowadays life-vests must be worn and provided for a small fee. People were wearing flip flops which must have been a challenge climbing over uneven boulders I would suggest waterproof trainers/shoes.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 March 2023

There is around 15 min walk from Jeep drop point to water fall. Once you done with your 15 min walk, sure you will enjoy the falls and nature.Visited May 2023Written 24 May 2023

- Sonal AgarwalBengaluru, India47 contributionsMajestic waterfall, Sea of MilkI have always wanted to go to Dudhsagar waterfalls. Its been on my list for a very long time but due to some circumstances I couldnt travel. Finally, I get a chance and plan with my friends from Bangalore. It was second week of July. When we reached there, we couldnt go on the trek because one of our friend has not reached and also forest department closed the gate from 9 am onwards and we stay back in the village. Second day we decided to start our from Castle Rock and we took the late night train and reached the station. We had to wait for sometime to start our trek. Finally, around 4 am we started our trek and were excited. There is no trail or route, one has to walk only on the railway tracks and have to get down as soon as train arrives to pass. If it gets slowed, one can hop on it too but dont take the risk. We enjoyed the trek thoroughly and the route is absolutely stunning and scenic. We got drenched in the rain, it was raining heavily as well. But another fate was waiting for us ahead. As soon as we were about the fall, the forest department blocked the route and asked everyone to return because of some incident taht must have happened a day before. We respected the decision and took a return. But what I really hate about the trekkers is, they started destroying and damaging the local properties. They started scaring people by running and few people fell and got hurt as well. The trekkers started damaging rail properties by throwing stones and break the rail boards which is highly unacceptable. The department is doing their duty for our sake. We should not be rude and harsh by damaging the property. OH MY GOD, are you crazy? Why do people do such crazy stuff? there are two routes for Dudhsagar waterfalls- one from Castle Rock- 14 kms one way and the other is Kulem 11 kms one side. Both the stations are quite accessible by the train. Things to keep - raincoat, some food, water, No washroom available, restaurant or water. wear good pair of shoes and also carry an extra pair of clothes to change. No tickets required.Visited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 18 September 2023

You DO need to pre purchase tickets but actually for double the price you can save the chaos of queuing and just speak to a local selling merch who cam get you on a jeep quicker. Keep the following things in mind while going there.
1. 500 rupees for jeep, 100 rupees for forest entry, 40 rupees for life jacket, 25 rupees for registration. (Total 665 rupee per person) (November 2023)
2. should keep liquid money on hand, they may use Google Pay, Phone Pay etc, but they don't.
3. There is a Bank of India branch and an ATM machine. But Machine will always be compliant. That's what I found out when I searched there. So it will be difficult if you don't have liquid money when you go there.
4. There is a lobby working there only to rob those who don't have liquid money. If we give Google Pay, they will hand over the money we say, but we will have to pay 100 rupees more. It's a regular thing there.
5. We have to pay the jeep driver (500 inr). But they buy only in liquid cash. They also have Google Pay and Phone Pay, but they also don't accept payments through that.
6. The driver says that once the jeep reaches its destination, it should return in 45 minutes. Then you will have to pay 300 rupees more for every hour. Remember one thing. You can't go there and enjoy it and come back within 45 minutes. It will take at least 2 hours. (Then the jeep fees will be 500 + extra hour charge)
7. There will be a lot of monkey nuisance in the waterfall area. They would open our bags and take away our belongings. So it is advisable to go there wearing only a dress for going into the water. Keep the remaining items in the jeep.
8. Kulem railway station is very close to this registration area (150 meter). We can get train from Vasco de gama or Madgoa.
9. There is no petrol station in the area so keep enough fuel in your vehicle.
10. Food and water are not available near the falls. So it is better to have a snack near the registration area before starting the journey. If you take the food, the monkeys will steal it from you. Otherwise they become aggressive.
11. And most of the packet foods are higher than the MRP price.

It’s an amazing location…..let’s say worth the torture you will endure towards this location because of the travel agents.
Yes I mean genuine torture. Don’t trust any tour booking from small shops along the beach.
Be careful:
1. Ask who is tour operator. Check by calling and confirming. (Else you will get shockers and they will find excuse to blame you)
2. Don’t trust Disha Travels on Calingute beach. They promise all but deliver nothing.
3. Ray’s Tour and Travel - Most unreliable and rude people and driver was openly drinking before driving passengers back.
We were promised hotel pickup at 6:45am. Got call at 5:30am to come to some location we had no clue about and caller was super rude. 2 hours later they stop at a very bad shop for people to have breakfast no option around except that really ugly unhygienic place. Then we wait for 1 hour….no one tells us anything before being taken to the fall.
Finally we reach the water fall which is truly beautiful and makes to forget the pain.
Post that we were offered lunch in a local restaurant in that village….place is nice. Food is simple and delicious.
Now we were suppose to leave for Spice plantation but we waited and waited in hot sun for approx 2 hours with rude responses from very stupid travel representatives…..yes they don’t care and they say that to your face.
Finally we were driven back to our city…..No Spice Plantation, No Old Goa churches…..yes they say it’s your fault because you trusted travel representatives their.
Met others in our hotel that evening and had similar experience.
So please don’t pay till you check and verify everything with tour operator and not where you pay for booking.
Just take extra caution.

Dudhsagar falls are Natural, so they are not closed in August rather they are more magnificent in the monsoon. But the Jeep safari or the trek which takes you there could be dangerous and closed at some times as the road is covered in water. Best to avoid. Best time is Octber to May.

Also, in my view, you are going at the wrong time.Dudhsagar is best during monsoon. July August preferbly. This is when it is full bloom. Water gushing at its mercy.

Try carrying food & water for self for sure. if you are reaching on weekend, there is a snack corner close to the dudhsagar bridge. if you are reaching early in the morning in kulem, there will be no one. in the morning after 06:30 am you can get food outside kulem station and everything is available. easy way is to catch the jeep and travel. adventerous way will be to walk on railway track and reach dudh sagar. there is another option you can drop at castle rock station and plan your journey next.
