Lovely escape to the woods, to the nature, to recharge and enjoy in this peaceful spot, just 1h10min light walk from the center of Pokljuka. Amazing views of the highest Slovenian mountains.

Zajamniki hamlet above Bohinj valley, offer beatifull and scenic view on Bohinj part of Julian alps. Huts are used by local shepherds, where they make cheese and other milk products, one of them even offer some home made brandy, cheese, cottage cheese.
The hamlet is accessible from the valley or from the Pokljuka plateau.

Zajamniki are as years ago. You can walk to the spot or use your bike. Road is open for cars, too, but you need a jeep or something similar. Better solution for real experience is walking there early in the morning or late on the evening. This is not a tourist spot. No mini skirts, high heels. Sometimes you can find some hospitality in summer. Even cows are rare – it is similar with milk and cheese. You can bring your own food. Water is not a problem they have clean cold water in the middle of the Zajamniki. Main part of the houses is well kept and some are used for weekend houses. No entrance fee, no tourist groups. Just some flowers.

"Planina Zajamniki" is something special - like going back in time. Shepherd's houses have been preserved. Almost all have been restored. Some have been converted into holiday homes. One house is "a snack bar". It was open on weekends in August. Offer: homemade cold cuts, cheese, sour milk, cottage cheese, butter.
Cows are still grazing in the meadow.
It is necessary to visit the highest house. Here is the most beautiful view of the Julian Alps. You can even see the highest mountain in Slovenia - Triglav.
You can reach the mountain on foot, by bike or by car.

Either biking or hiking this is a perfect place to find some picturesque views. It is a pity that a gravel road leads all the way up to the mountain. It would be better without cars although they are rare 😁

Great views in all seasons. Great if visiting on foot or cycling. Steep climb though, might be demanding for children.

Planina means pasture land. Special pasture on Pokljuka, not spoilt by tourists, is Zajamnki. You can reach it with an old car or with bike. Best solution is walking, 1 h and a half from Rudno Polje. You need to bring everything with you, even food and drinks. On high summer season when some houses are populated you can get some drinks. Place is even more interesting in winter. Some owners rent their wooden houses. Check first.

I would like to do as little walking as possible. How do I access this area by car from Lake Bled? Google maps is not showing a direct route. Thanks.

How long does it take to walk up there?

You have exact answer from Edyo. You can also drive from Rudno Polje to the crossing near Uskovnica (not the best road). From the crossroads there is just one hour of walk to Zajamniki. Good shoes are necessity.
