Just Brilliant!!!

Every Sunday, the car park will be transform into a market selling all kinds of produces and products. You want to feel the local ambience and taste home made food of various nationality, this is the place to check it up. There are plenty of free parking around if you plan on driving there, just asked a local and they will point you a location. The market is located in the town centre, you may want to check out the area after visiting the market.
You want to change a battery for a watch, they would do it immediately. I like the Bric n brac section, there is always something to pick up. You can also negotiate a price which you feel comfortable. Food, plenty around, if you like yum cha or dumplings there is a few restaurants close by. Takupana library is also round the corner, go pay them a visit, lots of free tourist brochures available at the library entrance. Pick a few and you will not be lost in Takapuna. Sorry important point almost missed out, market hours 8:00am to 12:00 noon, only open for 4 hours...

Fresh veg, plants, food stalls & fresh baked goods, fish, Italian sausages, honey, cheeses, bric a brac, handmade goods, paintings, prints, coffee, orchids, greenstone pendants, clothes & pre-loved clothes... oh & SO much more on offer!!! Love scouring the weekly market. Play park for the little ones alongside to kill the boredom. Bus terminal less than 10 meters away too. A must visit for anyone living or visiting in the area - each Sunday come rain or shine.

Every Sunday we visit the Takapuna market. It’s a great place to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as all kinds of other delicious things to eat. As well as food, you can find a variety of new and used treasures including anything from towels, clothing, Knick knacks, books and lots of NZ souvenirs if you’re visiting NZ and need gifts to take back home.
We always start the market with a coffee which we buy from Hayley who we have a chat with every Sunday. We feel like we know her because she’s been making our coffee for years. It’s the coffee stand closest to the Anzac Street side entrance.
I also buy fresh flowers as they’re gorgeous and much cheaper than buying from a flower shop.
There’s free parking across the road at the old police station on the corner. There’s also free parking at the Takapuna Mall across the street. (Entrance On Anzac Street)

I got the biggest brownie here, and it tasted wicked. We had a lot of fun exploring around the market. We learned about the Kauri gum from a local vendor, and how it is local to the island. We bought a piece for my son who loves rocks and minerals. All the food there looked, and smelled devine, I wish we could have spent more time trying foods. I would return to this location to try new things.

Every time I am in Auckland I go here with friends to stock up. The market has been going for years and is very popular with the public, who come from all around although there has been heated discussion about relocating it, which the local business people like but the public do not!

The market is very busy and has the usual things, edible and otherwise although it is especially good for the edible side, including fruit and vegetables and above all, eggs! There is, mercifully, not too much junk on offer and parking is generally good. Nearby are other, non-market alternatives for brunch and coffee.

Last weekend my lovely wife and I dropped in to Takapuna Markets on a lovely sunny Sunday Morning. I thoroughly enjoyed the Mussel fritter which for $7 or so was superb and an excellent breakfast; it was hot, fresh and full of mussels. I also enjoyed a fresh orange, beetroot and celery juice and was pleasantly entertained by the numerous muicians plying their trade. Well worth a visit on a sunday morning for an hour or more.

Awesome Sunday market on an awesome day is brilliant. Every stall was friendly and polite, not all have eftpos available so bring cash, those that do or don’t accept cards are clearly signed as such either way. Plenty to eat and drink, a lot of buskers but they are strategically placed and volume controlled so they don’t interfere with each other. From old stuff to new stuff, there is something for everyone.
Apparently the council is planning to concrete jungle the car park where this institute is located thus ending this iconic thing to do, that would be a shame.

The market is not big but we have a very good time and walked around for one and a half hour. Its a very local market. Stores from four local highschools, students either have their own baking or students from business study.
Fresh fruits and vegetables, handmade items, seafood, secondhand items......
