I found Bodiam in “Castle Trumps” and had to go there! It’s beautiful and magical- like a fairytale castle- with an amazing atmosphere that really stirs your imagination. There’s a great free tour that includes the outside grounds, and so much to do and see....More

Medieval castles in good condition are very rare, this seems genuine enough. The layout of the estate and the moat with the bridge are interesting in themselves, well worth a visit.

Why do Naional Trust have to clobber you with a £3 fee just to park the car? Not a good start. From the exterior the castle and moat are quite grand and promise much but sadly once inside it's just a shell. You are able...More

When you think of a medieval castle, this is the one that pops up in your head. It sits on an island in a pond (moat) filled with large fish. The castle has great views and the grounds are lovely. There's even a WWII bunker...More

We parked, bought our tickets at the visitor center and made our way to the Castle (mostly in ruins). It is incredibly scenic and relaxing with benches and chairs strategically located. The fish in the moat are enormous. Tourists are able to access the upper...More

I visited Bodiam Castle with my nine-year-old daughter and although the castle was pretty amazing she didn't really grasp a true understanding of the history. We took a picnic and had an enjoyable morning, she loved chasing the ducks!

I visited Bodiam Castle with my husband and two teenage children, all enjoyed the visit and liked the fact that the castle was mostly ruins inside rather that restored. Loved the castle, beautiful grounds and the cafe served a good cup of tea! Lovely day...More

From outside, it is the perfect castle - moat, towers, turrets, everything! Inside there wasn't much to see. I think you can normally go up two of the towers, but when we went you could only go up one, because the bats needed to be...More

Sorry no transport between the two. It's probably 15minute walk with little children

On the grounds is on-lead only, but there is plenty of good tracks and bins for well, waste.. As for inside, as stated a, a tether point is outside of the actual castle.
