Excellent place to get a feel for the history of the town.

Small, very attractive displays. There is a photo exhibit on the 2nd floor which should not be missed. It really gives a visitor a feel for the community of Fernie.

There is so much to learn about Fernie and you can do it here, either a quick browse through or stay a while and chat, and lose yourself in the story of the town and the mines and mountains and the people. You could spend hours here!

We have visited the Museum a few times because there are changing special exhibits. Currently, there is a special on the hamlet of nearby Hosmer. Who would have known that it was once a thriving coal town of 1200 people for only 10 years. We will continue to visit the museum on subsequent trips to Fernie.

$5 entrance fee was very reasonable. A very well put together museum for the space it occupies. Fairly quiet as I had the place to myself. Looked as though you could do a self guided tour on the original settlers

This small museum is located on the main street in a former bank building built in 1909. There's an exhibit that relates to the short-lived boom and bust of the community of Hosmer a little to the east of Fernie. That made me want to go and visit to see the old coking ovens which are still there. An activity... More

Particularly enjoyed the interactive videologues of stories provided by locals. Fernie is an area rich in history with the development of the coal mines and subsequent immigration.

While in Fernie recently we stopped by the museum for a visit. Although it is small, there are many interesting displays to keep your interest. It was a fun learning experience for my family and we would recommend it to you.

Walking around downtown we had lunch and planned to visit the museum. The sign said open, but they also had back in 5 - 10 minutes. A return time would be more appropriate.
