The homes and buildings are designed not only to show the artifacts, but also to illustrate the lifestyle of a prairie community. As well as the life of early pioneers you can also discover the trials of early frontier entrepreneurs; following along on their journey of trading furs for goods and living away from their families. THIS SUMMER, DISCOVER THE PANACHE OF CERVIDAE AT THE FORT LA REINE MUSEUM PANACHE: CARIBOUS AND OTHER CERVIDS MAY 5TH, 2017 - SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2017 Visitor's to the Fort la Reine Museum will be able to explore the wondrous world of the iconic Woodland Caribou and other Cervidae all summer thanks to the new travelling exhibition, Panache: Caribous and other Cervids of Canada. Cervidae, better known as moose, caribou (reindeer), wapiti, and deer, have been part of our history and ecology since time immemorial: and have inspired countless artists and are part of our living cultural heritage, especially for First Nation peoples. Through a state of the art interactive exhibit - discover their biology, their role in the ecosystem, and the dangers they face. THIS SUMMER, LEARN ABOUT A YOUNG GIRLS COMING OF AGE IN A TIME OF TERROR AT THE FORT LA REINE MUSEUM "ANNE FRANK: A HISTORY FOR TODAY" JUNE 5TH, 2017 - SEPTEMBER 4TH, 2017. An International Travelling exhibition from Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. On July 6, 1942 Anne Frank, just 13 year of age, became a fugitive, was joined by her parents and her sister, and hidden away in a secret factory annex in Amsterdam. During her time of hiding, Anne Frank kept a diary, which has survived to become a powerful symbol of a young girls optimism and vision for a better world as she came of age in a time of terror. Her story is the experience of a young Jewish girl, growing up within the inhumanity of the Holocaust. This exhibition aims to increase youth and public knowledge about the events of the second World War, the Holocaust, and Anne Frank. EXPLORE THE CANADIAN EXPERIENCE IN BELGIUM DURING WWI FIGHTING IN FLANDERS - GAS. MUD. MEMORY. MAY 8TH, 2017 - SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2017 In was during the Second Battle of Ypres, that Lt. Col. John Alexander McCrae M.D. of Guelph Ontario wrote the legendary poem, "In Flanders Fields" , to honour those that had perished in the war. This exhibition explores the experiences and challenges of Canadian soldiers while serving in Belgium during the first World War. The exhibit highlights the adaptability of the solders and Belgian civilians, and explores the history and evolution of the commemoration of the war in Belgium and Canada.

Loved the museum! I've been there a few times with some family members and I strongly recommend it to anyone that lives or is passing through Portage La Prairie! The staff are also very helpful and friendly!
